4884 Banjo Kazooie
A small sculpture of the videogame characters Banjo the bear and Kazooie the bird. Because I limited myself to use only parts from set 4884 Wild Hunters, not all colours are accurate.
About this creation
In 1998 the videogame Banjo Kazooie developed by Rare was published by, and exclusively made for Nintendo. The main characters were Banjo, a strong, but not so smart bear in yellow shorts, and Kazooie a red bird full of sarcasm, resulting in some hilarious comments.

Where Super Mario 64 defined 3D platforming games, Banjo Kazooie refined the formula further; levels were bigger and more detailed.

On their adventure Kazooie is often travelling in Banjo's blue, small back pack. It's still a mystery how she fits in there. Luckily she will occasionally help Banjo on his quest with her special abilities. This also gives her the opportunity to stretch her legs and wings once in a while.

To proceed they need to collect so called Jiggy's, which are jigsaw pieces. A total of 10 can be collected in each world.

The whole story is not very realistic, but the main focus was gameplay, which was excellent. Because of this, combined with some dry humour, the game received very positive reviews and is still considered a classic.

Due to its success it was no surprise a sequal called Banjo Tooie followed a few years later. Even though this is also a solid game, personally I prefer the original.

Recently both of these classics were added to Xbox Live arcade, after Microsoft acquired Rare from Nintendo.

During the build of this sculpture I had to smile several times, reminding the good times I had with the original game.

I'm old-school enough to remember this game, and I LOVED it! To this day, my favorite gaming platform is the Nintendo 64, because of games like Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Brothers Melee. This is a great build, amazing that you were able to build it from ONE set. 5/5!

Such an imaginative model, the shape is instantly recognizable.

Thanks for the introduction to these characters! I took the time to look up a trailer for the have managed to capture the look of the these guys quite well. These models have a lot of personality...and the name can't be beat! It is cool how you managed to get both of these guys at the same time from these pieces.

Very cool. I love the bear's face and feet. They also look very posable. This is such a good set for alternatives, are you planning any more? Currently making a rolls Royce silver shadow whilst watching Monaco F1 race :)
