Ultimate Halo 3 SMG
Finishing what I started. That's what I'm doing here. But let me start off this MOC by saying that this IS NOT the same SMG that I originally posted back in October of 2008. I've long since taken that one apart. *sniff* But as cool as it was, I think it left a lot to be desired with the shape, as well as with a few technical details. Other than using the same design for the barrel and sights, this one is completely new from the ground up. But why bother? That was back in 2008. Just read the message at the bottom of this page and you'll understand.
About this creation

Working trigger

Working bolt that locks back for reloading

Collapsible stock

Folding foregrip

Removeable magazine

Working sights

Rock-solid grip that easily supports the full weight of the gun

The shape is more realistic than I've ever made it before, and I'm also glad to say that I didn't have to scrap my battle rifle to build it!

Let me be the first to say that the area above the grip isn't much to look at. Because of the angle of the grip, I had to do some weird stuff get the edges to line up as closely as possible. I didn't want to leave any big gaps in the side of the gun, you know...

The trigger is spring-powered, but as usual, rubber band power is the only thing that will make the bolt work.

You never see it like this in-game, but the bolt can be locked back, sort of like the bolt on the battle rifle. Just look at it closely in forge mode if you need to.

But how do you make a small gun even smaller? Start by collapsing the stock...

And then fold the foregrip!

You never see the foregrip like this in the game either, but it's obviously mounted on a hinge that would allow it to swing into place like this.

And there you have it! The M7 caseless submachine gun in its most compact form!

I had to give up some of the studless awesomeness to get the shape of the stock just right. But it was totally worth it. :)

Is it sad that one of the coolest parts is really just a block with pegs?

You're jealous.

Yes you are.

As much as I hate to say it, this might be the last creation that I post for a while. I had hoped to be back building cars by now, but after graduating from high school, I feel like I need to start some serious job searching this summer. No, I'm not "moving away" from LEGO, and I'm most certainly not "leaving" MOCpages. While I haven't been posting stuff nearly as often as I used to, I still check in here often to see how things are going. So don't worry.

You can't get rid of me THAT easily...

Quoting James Williams is this bigger than your other versions? and is it actual size
Yes, it's just a few studs longer than the orginal version. According to Halopedia, the whole thing is about 18 1/2 inches long when the stock is collapsed, and this newest LEGO version matches that length almost perfectly! So yes, I think we can safely say it's actual size.

WOW! This is great! It must have been hard to put all those details in. This truly deserves the title of Ultimate SMG.

Nice job on this gun, the fact that you took the time to add in features that wern't even in the game really shows how much effort you put into this.

Awesome build - looks a lot bigger than it really is, which a good sign of a really well made creation. Good luck with Graduation - it's also why I haven't posted a big new MOC in over a year (although that's about to change). We'll wait patiently for your next car : )

Thanks, guys! And when I say "ultimate" I really the ultimate out of MY OWN designs for this gun. I hope I don't sound like I'm talking badly about the other SMGs posted on this site.
