About this creation
Citizen's Hose Company #1 is one of eight volunteer fire companies that protects to minifigs in the City of Ticlaw. Citizens Hose Company is the oldest active fire department in the City of Ticlaw, originating from three meeting held in 1841. In 1862, the company chartered under the name, Citizen's Hose Company and purchased two hand drawn hose reel carts.

In 1864, the company moved from their small building into their new three story building. Later that year, they purchased a larger hose carriage in addition to their two hose reel carts. It was said that Citizen's Hose Company had the most hose of any company in Ticlaw and was the fastest responders to all portions of the town.

By 1879, the members of the company improved their equipment by purchasing a horse drawn combination hose and chemical wagon and a beautiful white mare to pull it. It was also in 1879, that the members purchased the adjacent property and had it removed to expand the apparatus bay of their station. The company upgraded to newer hose and chemical wagons three times over the years until, 1918, when they purchased their first gasoline powered apparatus. A 1918 REO Motor Truck with a large hose bed, two chemical tanks, and other equipment.

In the late 20's, members became aware that their aging station was in need of repair. They also were aware that the newer fire trucks were becoming too heavy to be supported by the floor of the station. It was then that the members contracted a construction firm to install newer foundation walls and install concrete and iron rafters and a new floor in the apparatus bay to accommodate future heavier equipment.

During the 1960's a large siren was installed on the roof of the hose house. This siren was raised further into the air in 1995 to further alert the minifigs when a fire alarm is issued.

Currently, Citizen's Hose Company operates their 1965 Mack C Engine. This truck was refurbished in 2000 with a new 1,250 gpm pump, relined water tank and a new engine and automatic transmission. This engine carries the largest assortment and amount of hose of any apparatus in Ticlaw, though the time has come, and the minifigs of this department are investigating into the purchase of a newer engine. More on this as it unfolds.

About 5 years ago I had to disassemble my town and store the buildings and bricks. Very little was done over the 5 years, except purchase some LEGO from time to time. This spring, I renewed my interest in finishing my fire department, as well as getting photos of the building on my town. So I have been pulling some buildings out of storage and trying to get some pictures taken. The biggest issue, most of the buildings either are not complete or were partially disassembled. Here is a shot taken showing what the block that Citizen's Hose Company would be located on.

The first building is the Rhoades Building. It was the first 'high rise' structure building in Ticlaw in 1909. It is seven stories in height. The first floor offers small shop to the right, and on the left, a department store, which also comprises the second story. The remaining floors of the building offer office spaces and meeting rooms. This building was in the process of being built, when I put everything in to storage. As you can see, the windows are not completely installed. I plan to use clear glass windows on all the upper floors. There are some other minor tasks to be completed.

The next single story building is a barber shop, followed by the Campbell Building. DeLeonardo's Pizza parlor is located in the Armentrout Building, then finally, Citizen's Hose Company.
