Bowman Fields' Cottage
Fields Cottage, a snow-covered two-story Castle cabin.
About this creation
This is the cottage of Bowman Fields, adventurer-for-hire. Inspired by a little model cottage I saw somewhere on the Web, it's my first Castle building in years.

Overall, I'm pleased with the results. While it is tiny, I think it's just big enough inside to be legit. This is the first thing I was able to actually finish and show in a long time, and I imagine it has to do with the small size. Now that I'm done with this one, I'm looking at more designs out there to work with. I have a sneaking suspicion that Bowman will be moving into a larger house soon :)

Front view. Something about those cartoony proportions just clicks with me.

Left quarter. Why's that pine tree out back snow-free, you ask? It's a rare Dragonsblood pine, able to ward off cold with internal heating. Or something.

Right quarter. I'm particularly proud of the bush on this side; the snowy top was a fun challenge.

Rear quarter. Arranging the dark grey bricks to look random was harder than I expected. Kudos to those who pull it off convincingly :)

The entire building hinges open across the stairway.

Fully open. This shot shows the odd staircase design I stuck myself with. All in all, I like how it turned out.

The entryway. Woo. This is where... you enter the house.

The back of the entry. I like the idea of the palm-tree-top-thingy as a coatrack. Also here is a barrel containing a pair of snowshoes, a shovel, and Bowman's walking stick.

Bowman himself, in his bedroom. Not much to look at, is it? Present are the bed, a small table, Bowman's safe, on top of which is (not very visible)a rather disturbing souvenir - a jar containing the brain of a Mind Eater Fields defeated on one of his voyages.

The real meat of the house is in the rear of the main room. A fireplace, desk and bookshelf are crammed into the small space. Various trophies, treasures, and oddities can be found here. Bowman's traveling pack can be seen hanging on the rail, and extra firelogs between the desk and the hearth.

I really like the snowy feel, but It's a little too small on the inside :)

I love the level of interior detail. The winding staircase and the crowded feel of the tiny cottage are just great.

Cracking design, brimming with nice details and touches ... hmm, I might make one for myself :)
