About this creation
We rejoin our heros at the site of crisis! Callan has fallen to his own blade at the hands of the Ever Burning Flame; Magmagear. Now that the time of reckoning has faced our heros, what are they to do?
More specifically...what will Aridike do...
Aridike kneeled with the dead corpse of his ally in his lap. His usually warm body had grown cold and limp. Aridike stared deeply into his dull and faded Heartlight, lost in thought…
The hulking mechanical figure had gotten up from their fight, and dropped Callan's blade. It made a dull thud on the ground, piercing the silence. Magmagear started to turn and walk away. He had done enough damage. For now.
Aridike gritted his teeth.
His prosthetic fist clenched tightly.
"And where do you think you're going… Son of Makuta…"
Magmagear stopped, his head tipped low. He raised it as he turned back to the black armored Toa.
Aridike kept his gaze on his friend's body, but got to his feet slowly to face his murderer. He flashed his face at Magmagear, anger blazing from his eyes, revenge carrying his words like knives.
"You won't leave here alive. Mark my words…"
"…Really… and who's going to stop me… you? The only reason you're not dead is because he," he pointed at Callan's body, " became your shield. "
"You want a real fight? I'll give it to you…YOU WILL PAY FOR THIS!!!"
Aridike took a battle stance and crushed the earth around him with a mighty step as he roared with rage at Magmagear. His body took on an orange glow and he threw his buzz saw to the ground. Magmagear took a step back.
"I don't use my Temporal powers often, Magmagear. You've earned a special surprise…"
Aridike suddenly blinked out of Time and reappeared in the air behind Magmagear. He held his fist up high to punch him out, but Magmagear barely dodged Aridike's swing. Or so he thought.
As Aridike hit the ground, he immediately disappeared again, and reappeared again in the air behind Magmagear! This time he landed a devastating punch straight into Magmagear's face.
A crunch was heard throughout the battlegrounds.
The mighty giant fell slowly, like a dead tree, and hit the ground with a dull thud.
Aridike rose to his feet and turned to the fallen behemoth of gears. He saw him twitch slightly before groaning quietly. Magmagear was made of tougher stuff than Aridike thought. No matter.
He'd make him suffer like Callan did.
Aridike slowly but steadily walked to the fallen form of Magmagear. A large dent was left of one eye, but he looked like he'd live, if Aridike let him.
Aridike raised his boot, ready to crush what was left of Magmagear to dust.
Before Aridike could act, a rushing blue figure slammed Aridike away from Magmagear onto the ground some paces away. It was Cossy. He pinned Aridike down to the ground to keep him from his vengeance.
" Aridike! Stop it!! We are the good guys! We don't kill for revenge!"
Aridike struggled under Cossy's weight.
"Get off!! Unlike you, I have no Code to live up to! I'm an Artificial Toa!!"
Cossy held Aridike tighter.
"Is your heart artificial, too?!"
"I don't care!! Magmagear deserves to die for what he did!"
"Two wrongs don't make a right, Aridike. Justice will come for him and his lackeys. But now we must fix the wrongs at hand. And I have a way to do that."
Aridike stopped struggling and his face grew softer. Cossy got off him and helped him up. They both looked to Magmagear who was still down from Aridike's blow. Aridike spoke.
"So…what is your plan to fix this…"
Cossy pulled a small cloth-wrapped package from his pack and unwrapped it. A gleaming mask of gold shone beneath the cloth.
"…The Vahi. Long story, but I have it if such a situation as this would occur… That's why we needed you on our team so badly. Only you can make it work…"
"Your right. At least for the task we have in mind."
Aridike removed his Ruru and took the Vahi from Cossy's hands.
As Aridike felt the Vahi on his face, he felt a surge of energy and an orange aura of Time Energy flowed around his being. Cossy took a step back from Aridike to let him do his thing. Aridike raised his arm and a spiraling orange portal appeared before Aridike. He nodded to Cossy and stepped inside, the portal disappearing behind him.
"Good luck friend…"
As Cossy turned back to the fight, hands grabbed around his throat.
"…There's no one here to help you now…"
Aridike traveled through the many colors and shapes back to 10 minutes ago, before Callan had died. He stepped onto solid ground only to find himself in the heat of battle. He, Magmagear and Callan were in frenzied combat.
Suddenly, Callan dropped his blade and Aridike saw his cue. He used his gravity powers to push the sword far away from the contenders, thus eliminating Callan's demise. Then Aridike had another idea.
"Meh, what the Karzahni…why not…"
Aridike backed up and took a running start at Magmagear. He jumped up and kicked the sorry Dark Hunter clear across the desert.
As Aridike landed, he locked eyes with himself, who had a quizzical look.
"Yeah… it's complicated."
And with that, Aridike reopened the portal through time. His destination: the Halls of Time. He hoped that the Fourth wouldn't be too upset about that whole deal… What he hoped more was that Time could be rewritten...
When approached by Callan to write the next chapter in his story, I lept at the oppourtunity. It was a few weeks ago, and I had reached a ditch in my writing for Part 6. It was something new and interesting to write, and so I took the challenge merrily verily.
I even made a lovely poster to go with the chapter! I stretched the lengths of my talent for this one, even making rocks about his feet. :3
Well! Hope you like it Callan! The next chapter's all yours!
AWESOME! That was just so cool :D I'm glad you made Cossy do that! He would have! Definitely in his character :D And nice reference to Magmagear title :D Thanks for that! Amazing work on this Ben :D Great work ;)
Great chapter, but all these temporal variants are confusing. When Aridike goes back in time, is he saying "It's complicated" to another version of himself? And if so, is he then really saving an alternate Callan? Your timeline confuses me.
