This is my fun attempt to build a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air, my ultimate masterpiece, based on the one in the cover of The Ultimate LEGO Book (I don't have that book), and it took a lot of work on this MOC. This '57 automobile may have some disadvantaged parts (such as some incorrect pieces, etc.). Some building tips are from Brickshelf. However, no instructions for the LEGO (Ultimate Book) '57 Chevy exist, so I had to figure out myself. At last, it is finally finished after 2-3 days of hard work. This LEGO (Ultimate Book) 1957 Chevy is near perfect like the one on the book! 8D Please rate and comment.
About this creation
UPDATE (August 13, 2013): In these newly-released pictures (photographed in December 2012 but previously unreleased for 8 months), this '57 Chevy Bel-Air was already updated for the final time.
UPDATE (July 29, 2012): After long months in storage and some frustration while rebuilding, this fancy "Ultimate LEGO Book" '57 Chevy is now upgraded and is %95 perfect (except for the back which to me it is kinda sucky). I will improve this car a little more later.
UPDATE (November 19, 2011): I photographed these pictures while my cousin was busy whilst visiting my house for the weekend 2 weeks ago.
The black 1957 Chevy Bel-Air sedan (also a non-LEGO one) I spotted at the fun-fair's car show (dated September 10, 2011). =D
Much better...! =D This version is now updated (as of July 20, 2011).
The first version (as of July 18, 2011)...
This used to be a main picture before the latest update...
Back in 2011 when I was in work practise as a model builder in Legoland Billund, I got to see and hold their original Bel Air model, and I even got the opportunity to copy the original model (a lot of the parts were out of production, so I had to improvise here and there).
Here are some pictures of my copy:
So if you want to, I could make a digital copy. Probably not LDD(too many missing parts plus illegal connections).
Nice Chevy! The '57 bel air is my favourite car and you've done a great job at replicating it. I like the front and hood. Excellent work! Have a look at my '57 Chevy bel air if you have the time, the link is
An extremely nice 57 Chevy, even if it was on a book cover, the fact that you could build it just from the picture makes it really good. The only thing I would change is make the rear wheels stick out a little more, but other then that perfect, great job!
Really nice creation; great detail and parts usage. I've seen a few techniques used before (the chrome arrows on the bonnet are in a LEGO book for example) - but nevertheless a superb looking MOC. 5 stars
