The uss cassin young WIP
All 9 FEET COMPLETED NOW
About this creation
This is my latest project. well, not latest I have been working on it for about 20 weeks now, and it will be my biggest creation ever built. when completed it will be at least 9 feet long and use many bricks. It will be split into 3 sections to make it easy to carry. I have actually built all three sections now but I have destroyed two in order to perfect it.
Some quick facts on the Fletcher Class Destroyers
Fletcher class destroyer-the fletcher class was the most common class of destroyer in ww2 and one of the largest. normally in real life averaged around 365 feet long and served from 1942 until the last one was decomissioned in 2001
Armament-5 5inch 38 cal guns
10 torpedo tubes
10 40 mm bofors AA guns
7 20mm AA guns
NOTE
The pictures are outdated!!!! I will try to get more and I have completed all of section 1 and I am working on section 2 framework. I want to update once a week or so but I am limited in time so......
Currently I have completed the entire framework but I plan on rebuilding section one just cause...
Dont plan on updating the pictures anytime soon.. sorry...
PICTUREs-YAY

The front, Awkward slope... You wont be able to see any other colors when it is complete

Part of section 1 and the almost completed framework of section 2

A minifig, standing where the 2nd 5in gun should be, shows the scale and how large it is

The Framework of the completed section 3, section 3 was destroyed due to framework issues

more section 3 framework

Real Awkward Slope...

The First Section, all most complete, just need to tile, patch up and build the tower

Another picture of the first section more complete, just more framework and stuff like that.

Dont pay attention to this one, pretty much the same as the last.

A brief picture of section 2 of the cassin young (before it was destroyed) what it looked like with 1 smokestack and and a torpedo mount plus useless pieces

This picture, it may not seem much to you viewers but, it took me a long time to figure out the ten foot slope on the uss cassin young because like other fletchers, it has a slope that drops from 19 feet out of the water to 9. this is the side of one section that shows the slope that goes down for 200 studs obiously the studs showing would be covered up and you couldnt see those gaps but just to show...

This picture is the last, it shows the very front of the boat, it may not look that good, but it will look better when it is done.

Working on a Fletcher myself, at a slightly smaller scale. I really like how you've handled the hull, it is a tricky one and I'm trying to figure it out myself.
Thanks, Unfortunately this MOC progress has been postponed for a while until I get enough pieces |
