A 7-wide model of the best public service vehicle ever.
About this creation
The iconic (an overused word but relevant here, I think) Routemaster bus entered service in London in the 1950s and remained in service for half a century. You still see them, but only on the tourist trails sadly. The replacement 'bendy buses' are worse in every way apart from disabled access and I won't be building one of those...
This model was inspired by two people:
Andy Larkum, whose beautifully detailed emergency and railway vehicles are the best 7-wides out there. When he builds a bus it'll blow this away.
Firas Abu-Jaber, who himself has built a bus, and as you'd expect it's very lovely.
My thanks to them.
My version has seating for 25 minifigs and seperates into three parts. Here's the top deck with the roof off and lots of happy travelling pirates, town people, vintage spacemen etc...
The top deck comes off, showing more happy travellers and a very snug driver... the guy behind him has been on here for a while..
A view of the rear platform and stairs - credit goes to Firas for this part because I did the stairs the same way. If you're going to copy, copy the best :-)
As the great Mr Homer Simpson would say:
Mmmmm... macaroni... aarrhhh
The bonnet opens - the mechanic wishes he was taller...
Here's your problem - someone's put what looks like 3 buckets where the engine should be.
Hi! This is very very good. You captured the shape very well, this shows a lot of features of the real thing. I invited you in my group "System Vehicles" Please join with it, or some of your other minifig scaled creations in the future!
Hi Nick. I love this creation it is full of charm and character - just like you ;). I used to catch the number 22 to school all those years ago – those were the days. Thank you so much for your soothing comments on my latest. I think I need a break from cars. I have written something in our group you might be interested in ;). Talk soon.
I like it

this is excellent !.....a true classic....well done
Finally the pictures are back up and boy was it worth the wait! I love this and I am deeply honoured that you mentioned me, thank you so much. This has to be one of the best 7-wides on MOCpages. It's of perfect proportion and the detailing is spot on. Great work.
Amazing job at recreating this beauty. Unfortunately, I never got to see the streets packed with them. Ya know, the handicapped could always strap their wheelchairs to the bumpers. Booooo to political correctness! LMAO
We're all going on a summer holiday. Beautiful moc Nick you have captured it perfectly. Number 22 is my local bus too but it's not as nice as this one. I love your old school spaceman. I had a few of those but I have lost most of them now :(. Ding ding Next stop please drive.
