In the near future (why is it always the near future?), Man has expended all mineral resources on Earth.
Brave civil engineers and miner types have taken huge sums of money and gone off into the Solar System to exploit other planets and moons for the mineral wealth that will keep Earth going for millennia to come.
Here, a six wheeled rock cannon deployed on one of the moons of Jupiter shows off its plasma cannon used to scour the open cast pit faces.
Sadly, in the near future, tha macro facility on cameras can be forgotten about.
About this creation
The front of the Rock Cannon. Designed to be amphibious, the 'bow' allows for swift progress through the methane swamps en route to the mining facility.
At the rear end, four proton exhausts allow for additional propulsion when wading. The rear window allows the operator to see what the computer controlled plasma cannon is up to.
Another shot of the front.
The plasma cannon in position and ready to earn some money for Megamine Corp. The halo serves to magnetically direct the plasma beam at the pit face. Really, it does even if it looks like a pair of wheel arches.
And in a stream of light, plasma spews forth into the mineral deposits. Two plasma beams must never cross. Unlike Ghostbusters, there WILL be catastrophic consequences.
