An altered 7938 express train, a looks-a-little-bit-alike a DB 644.
About this creation
I was given 7938 for my birthday but I had a few problems with it. These were/are it didn't have any doors, the wheel bogies didn't match and mostly it was an electric train and I don't have any overhead wires. I set to it with the aide of my Lego box and ebay and train pictures. I looked carefully at the DB 644 as it was the only 3 car DMU i could find and with that in mind the conversion started. The main differences are the ends, which have been extended to accommodate the doors. I wanted to add doors to the middle but couldn't work out a decent way to do so. The bogies have been changed but now don't allow separation, this is somewhat compensated for by the addition of magnetic couplings to the front and back. I think, overall, it is an improvement, it still works RC too.
Er, to be honest, I haven't tried coupling it to anything yet, I suspect it won't go round curves but if that proves the case I'll alter it to the system I used on my DB DMU 5, which worked, just about.
Nice take on the front with the couplings which make it really look more like the real Talent – but do they actually work in curves when coupled to another train? They look like they're too far on the outside – which is actually the main reason why I didn't change the front on my 7938 mod here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/247113
