About this creation
Ever since the Mad Scientist and Monster figures came out in series 4, I've been itching to build this MOC... I just wasn't sure how I was going to decorate Dr. Frankenstein's laboratory. Then this morning, while cleaning up the wreckage from my son William's most recent LEGO war, I stumbled across a couple pieces that inspired me to finally put the laboratory together.

Here's another view:

And here's the whole thing:

I've recently heard more than one parent complain about how LEGO sets have become so specialized with theme-specific parts that don't work well in other themes. This argument is usually followed by some nostalgic drivel about how "when they were little" LEGO sets were mostly just bricks, and you had to use your imagination to create stuff. Well, as to the theme-specific parts not working well together, for this MOC I used a mace from the Kingdoms set 6918 Blacksmith Attack, two screw pieces from the Alien Conquest set 7051 Tripod Invader, a lantern from the Pirate's of the Caribbean set 4195 Queen Anne's Revenge, a couple of lightning pieces that I think came from some of William's Ninjago minifigs, and a whole bunch of random bits that came from any number of William's Star Wars sets.

I for one enjoy the fact that LEGO creates so many different themed sets. And as for the parents that think that the pieces can't be used together, well maybe they've just forgotten how to use their imaginations.

Really cool, but it's just a little crowded (too much going on in a small space)
