LWC Guy vs Marty Ford in:
Grandpa’s Ghost Stories: What kind of monsters are hiding in your imagination after grandpa tells you one of his stories? Create a scene, creature or other visual representation of those images in your head.
About this creation
Built for Round 2 of the 2011 MOColympics in the category of Grandpa's Ghost Stories.
Gran'poppy Bob is known to tell young children scary stories about monsters hiding in the shadows and ghosts lurking in abandoned buildings,
And he especially enjoys telling these stories to his two gullible grand children. Well, Gullible Billy ( known as Gullibilly ) and not so gullible sally. One morning Bob waves his Grandkids goodbye as they walk off to school, but billy can't take his mind off the story Gran'poppy told last night about that abandoned house across the street, the one where a horrible monster lurks. To assure himself that there is really nothing there, Billy walks over to the house's window...
The window itself is something Billy would usually cower from, with the broken glass giving it the appearance of a great gaping mouth, ready to gobble up any curious child who ventured to close... but that is not what made Billly scream....
...For in the back of the hall, Billy could see a great eye staring at him, which could only belong to a monstrous beast who had little children for breakfast every morning!
Below are some of the monsters I considered.... that mini Grim Reaper is a little bit too cute...
Well, that was a fun build, I'm not sure it'll take me to round two, but I hope so!
Good luck, other contestants, and good luck Marty!
The build is fantastic and the setup is great, but the true mastery here is what we don't see. So many horror films rely on in-your-face visuals that they miss the bus on what is really scary: one's own mind. Without visual parameters, the mind has to fill in the gaps and will draw from our inner fears to do so; far more shiver inducing than being shown/told what is scary, at least for me anyway. The eye pulls this off perfectly, IMHO; well done! BTW, I think your umpa lumpa Grim Reaper is adorable! LOL Good luck with the judges.~H

Love the forced perspective an especially that giant eye! Good luck!
Absolutely amazing. The spooky corridor gives me the shivers (especially if it was dark). However that creepy "eye" of yours is what truly stands out. It's like something that came straight out of the twilight zone.
