Yes, it's been a while. I lost all of my galleries in that drive crash, may or may not get them back.
Anyway, this is a creation I've had sitting around for some time, the TMAG - Loki (TMAG = Transforming Mechanized Assault Gunship) A piloted mecha.
About this creation
This set has two modes, the mech and gunship. Starting off with the gunship:
The gunship is quite large and built heavy helicopter style with one massive rotor and a smaller rotor. It shares its armaments with its mech mode, those namely being two large Gatling cannons and two 4 pod missile racks. There's a view window on the top of the cockpit for the pilot, and a window on the bottom that houses sensors.
Here's our lucky pilot. He's ready for more dakka!
And now we begin morphing. The large rotor lifts from its braces, allowing all the individual blades to swing around and fold back. The sides of the tail section split apart, and the missile racks lift up. The intake turbines also rotate upward.
Now the middle of the ship also splits open. and the sides of the tail can be adjust downward to start becoming the legs. The missile rack is free to move further upward, completely folding back the rotor assembly. Now that the cannons are freed a bit, they can be adjusted.
Completely fold the legs down and the feet out for a stance, fold up the cockpit to set into place, and fold up the landing gear. Complete posing joints as necessary. The landing gear of the tail will also fold up, allowing the entire tail to pivot into place on the back.
And Here's the mech mode!
Guns poised! Ready for combat!
The cannon arms have a set of gears inside them. Moving the gear on the back of the arm makes the barrels spin really fast. Simple but effective.
Now that this is up I can take it apart. I have a mighty fun idea planned for my next build!
Absolutely fantastic design. You see several transforming mechs on this site, but a lot of them look awkward in one form or the other, but your design looks well-put-together whether in mech or chopper mode. Great work!
