About this creation
Palavitkuna or Red Kilt Runner:

The Runner Kachinas or Wawash Kachinum appear during the spring dances to run with the men of the villages. If the man escapes the Kachina by the end of the village street, he is awarded a prize (usually some form of bread). If the Kachina should win the race, the man is whipped by the kachina with yucca leaves. Palavitkuna is distinctive in the color of the kilt that he wears.

Below is my first attempt at this doll. I was never quite happy with him, so I took it down and rebuilt it. I always thought the first one looked like a Hopi version of Charlie Brown.

On Charlie Brown, I agree with the man below me. I prefer the second version though for its superior shape and texture.

Ha, i never would have thought of the comparison to Charlie Brown if you hadn't mentioned it, but now i can't unsee it. xD I like both versions, the bottom one has more character but the top one has a greater sense of gravitas.

This is really neat! It seems like a good thing to go on a desk or bookshelf. 5/5
