MIT Round 2: Buzz Droid vs. Sebeus I
This is my entry for the second round of the Mocpages Invitational Tournament. The category was "Life Here Began Out There".

Sebeus I's entry

Here is a typical day in the life of Timmy. Every waking hour of his life he plops himself in front of the television screen and plays video games.

Life wasn't always like this for Timmy. Life in here began outside of his living room. There was once a day when he would go outside and play like an average little boy. Then, he got his first Call of Duty game and was hooked for the rest of his life. He is so focused on his game, he probably wouldn't even notice if...

It looks like life here on Earth began out there in space. Now, the aliens have returned to Earth with intentions of destroying it!

The humans are desperately trying to hold back the invasion with the best technology the military has to offer, but will that be enough?

The aliens and humans fight to the death for control of the planet.

The crossfire is deadly, and everyone is terrified!

Except for this guy. It looks like he is having way too much fun.

The aliens seem to have the upper hand in this battle!

As we speak the evil robot overlord approaches Timmy's house.

The human's are about to lose hope. Even this solder's most loyal companion, the garden gnome, has perished in battle.

The alien cannon, set somewhere between "death" and "total annihilation", aims at the house.

If only there was someone who could stop this mechanical menace.

But wait, there is...

It's the Super Squad!!! Now with their newest member, Cupid!

So this was definately an intersting build. Just like my opponent, I was planning on doing some sort of serious sci-fi story, but I just couldn't get it to work right. I built Timmy's video game cave but it seemed too bland. So what did I do? I just plopped all of my sci-fi figs right in Timmy's backyard and "ta-da!", we have an alien invasion!

Here are some more shots of the minifigs I built.

Here is a standard solder. I really like this character, and how his gun turned out.

Here is a solder with some heavy artillery. He enjoys shooting things way too much!

Here is the solder with the flamethrower suit.

There was originally supposed to be toxic gas coming out of the guns, but flames worked much better for this particular scene.

Here you can see the mechanism that connects the gun to the helmet piece.

Here is one of the alien's robots with a rocket launcher.

This is the evil alien robot overlord!

My goal here was to make a very articulate humanoid robot, and I like how it turned out.

And this has to be my favorite, the alien!!!

The alien was a hard challenge for me, but I love how he turned out in the end.

He also got a really cool gun too!

My goal for the alien was to make something that looked both organic and mechanical.

It all started when I was messing around with my bricks, and haphazardly made this head.

After some more fiddling I was able to connect the head to the antenna of this telephone piece.

Here is a view of the back of the alien.

Another thing that made the alien my favorite was his weapon (modeled by this garden gnome). It is very simple, yet elegant; and it suits the alien perfectly. I figured that if lasers from earth circular at the end, why can't alien lasers be square?

Those aliens better not invade the garden again. This gnome is armed and dangerous!

Here is the giant alien canon. Its big, its powerful, and it can blow you up.

And lastly, here is the newest member of the Super Squad (see my last entry ). His name is cupid. He is a flying midget who, armed with his magic bow and arrow, can make his foes fall in love.

I saw the first Avenger's trailer this past week, and I realized that I didn't have anyone who represented the dude with the bow and arrow (sorry I don't know his name, I'm not a comic book nerd!). I thought about making him a dude who plays robin hood at the local renascence fair, but I liked the cupid idea much better! Hopefully I'll advance to the next round, but if not at least I'll be able to sleep again. Good luck fellow contestants!

Although you will not be moving on, you did get my vote. I enjoyed your creative parts usage with the aliens and the retro tv. Story got a little carried away, but you were obviously having fun with it. Hold your head high and thanks for participating!~H

Although I enjoyed The story more, your opponent gets my vote.

IMO, I thought your story was more interesting than Sebeus I's, but his build and presentation was just enough to sway the score. A tough call here. My vote goes to your opponent.

Very nice, I like that TV you built. I'm actually quite the c.o.d. fan myself :P

*Sigh* Spell Check fails me again. Apparently there is a difference between a "soldier" and a "solder". Maybe one day I'll be able to make a post with no spelling errors :(
