Republic Assault Crawler
Anticipating eventual assaults on heavily defended core Separatist homeworlds, Republic engineers designed the All Terrain Assault Crawler (ATAC). Bringing the fire-power of a star cruiser to ground-level, nothing in the galaxy can stand in its way.
About this creation

Its primary weapons consist of (3) plasmonic mass drivers, mounted in its massive roof turret.
Its secondary armaments consist of (2) heavy quad turbo lasers, which can rain devastating firepower on enemies both on the ground and in the skies above. It is powered by (4) reactors, one in each wheel unit. At maximum speed, all power is diverted to drive units, and weapons will not function; at attack speed, power is shared between weapons and drive units; and in seige mode, all power is diverted to weapons, and the crawler is temporarily immobilized. In a defensive mode, all power can be diverted to a shield generator, in which case weapons and drive units will not function, but the crawler becomes nearly invincible...useful for surviving enemy bomber raids and artillery barrages.

The ATAC is crewed by 6 clones and one multi-purpose repair droid. In the cockpit sits the pilot and co-pilot. Behind them is a control center, occupied by the command officer and two quad-laser gunners. The sixth man is stationed inside the primary weapon turret.

The plasmonic mass driver is an ingenious weapon designed to destroy heavily shielded defenses. It fires in a two-stage process. First, an intense ion-plasma discharge is fired at the target. As the hot plasma moves through the atmosphere, it ionizes the atoms in the air, creating a temporary vacuum tunnel, which quickly collapses, generating a tremendous thunder clap. When the ion-plasma reaches the shield barrier, it interferes with the force field, creating a weak spot. After the ion-plasma discharge hits the target, an electromagnetic rail-gun fires a hypersonic projectile through the vacuum tunnel (in the instant before it collapses) where it encounters no air-resistance to slow its trajectory. Guided by the tunnel, it hits the shield at the exact spot weakened by the plasma discharge, giving it a small chance of penetrating the shield, upon which its warhead can devastate the shield generator inside.

The primary weapon is fired by the third gunner inside the turret.

The main-body of the Assault Crawler contains a large bay for transporting clone troopers and small vehicles for the mop-up operation.

An ATAC with its exit ramp deployed.

An ARF-trooper on his AT-RT, exits the rear of the Assault Crawler.

For extreme playability, the sides of the crawler can be raised.
