My biggest scariest creation yet. Read the story ...
About this creation
BEFORE YOU READ THIS STORY, YOU MAY WANT TO READ PART 1 OF THE HALLOWEEN GREMLIN (written in Halloween 2009) in case you missed it. Here’s the LINK
HALLOWEEN GREMLIN 2: The Hunt for the Barkerfield Monster
“Help me!” Harvey suddenly awoke, screaming.
“Easy dude,” John comforted, “you were just having a nightmare.”
“Yeah. It’s been exactly two years since that… that “gremlin creature” attacked me… I just can’t get over it. I’m such a coward.”
“On the contrary, you being here with us makes you the bravest man in the world. We appreciate that you wanted to come with us, although it really wasn’t necessary.”
“Thanks… thanks for believing me when I said that thing is out there for real. For some unexplainable reason, I wanted to end this tonight. I can’t continue living like this. I need to face my fear once and for all! I-I just hope we survive the night.”
“We sir are professional monster hunters and it’s our job to hunt monsters that prey on people. In two years, there had been already twelve people mutilated with eight more reported missing in this area alone. And this happens only every Halloween night. You, my lucky friend, are the only survivor and lone eye witness to all these...” John explained as he loaded ammo to his array of weapons. Shotguns, machine guns, sniper guns and a number of grenades.
“But are we safe…?” Harvey still looked worried with a long drawn out tired face . He hadn’t slept well for most nights since the incident. Being again in this eerie Halloween night on the same road was making him very paranoid.
“Relax,” Yuri knocked on the vehicle “this beast is our custom built armored vehicle. Nothing gets in. It can survive the strongest tornado.”
“Plus, we came prepared. We are going to get this sonuvabitch.” John cocked his shotgun to prove a point.
Days ago, they had mounted a number of remote night surveillance cameras along this stretch of highway, where victims disappeared or were found eaten. Tonight, they wait for the action as they carefully parked their vehicle where they believe they can reach the action in about 10 minutes. And so they waited.
After one hundred and thirty-one minutes of waiting, Camera 22 suddenly picked up something unusual. It had detected a presence of a shadow, with two moving glowing orange eyes.
“Hey Harvey, you better see this…”
“Oh my God! It’ s back!” Harvey panicked.
“Lets go, lets go! That’s just seven minutes down the road” Yuri instructs John to floor the gas.
Exactly seven minutes later, they were already at Camera 22 site on dark desolate part of the highway leading to Barkerville where you can hear the spooky howl of the wind and the unnerving sounds that the black crows make.
“Is it gone?” Harvey asked with a sigh of relief but he didn’t get any reply from any of the two. They were busy looking outside for what it seemed was a just a dark stretch of highway with a thick vegetation nearby.
“Over there! I think I saw something move!”, shouted Yuri while pointing to the back of the vehicle.
Suddenly, without warning, something heavy landed on top of the vehicle, scaring everyone inside.
“Shoot it for Pete’s sake!” Harvey yelled!
“Quiet! I can’t shoot what I can’t see. Damn it! The bullets won’t penetrate this vehicle,” remarked John. “I need to draw it away from this vehicle to get a better shot.”
In an instance, John opens the door slightly and throws the fresh meat bait he had prepared earlier.
Unlike Harvey, the hunters haven’t seen anything like it before as the creature went after the meat like a starved rabid coyote. It was just the size of a small child, but it had the most terrifying face, with a big mouth and sharp, jagged teeth.
“Bang! Bang!” Yuri aims and fired at it. “Got it!”
“It’s on the run! Quick, after it! Let’s hunt it down.”, instructs John. “Harvey, stay in the vehicle. We’ll be back!”
As the two hunters went after the limping creature, more shots were fired. Harvey waited anxiously for the hunters to return. More gunshots echoed. Seconds felt like minutes; ten minutes felt like forever. And then there was just eerie silence. Harvey was now worried. He was completely now alone.
Suddenly, Harvey heard somebody shouting but couldn’t decipher the words. Peaking outside the vehicle, Harvey could see it was Yuri recklessly running towards the vehicle. Harvey got out of the vehicle and shouted at Yuri, “What’s wrong?! Where’s John?!”
But before he could get a reply, he knew the answer. Another monster was after Yuri. But it wasn’t as small as the first. No, this one was much bigger, standing at around 12 feet in height and many times more terrifying than the smaller creature. It had the same big bulging orange glowing eyes, large mouth with sharp white teeth but it had bat like ears, long arms and gigantic hands with pointy claws and muscular built like an giant ape. Despite its size hunchback look, it was agile and moved quickly.
Within three more seconds, the monster caught up with Yuri. “Bang! Bang! Bang!” . Yuri blasted away at the monster , screaming, “Die you motherX#$@! This is for John!”
But the monster shrugged off the shotgun pellets Yuri as if they were mere flies. Its hide was impenetrable unlike the smaller creature. Obviously Yuri was outclassed and helpless.
Shocked, Harvey then saw the monster grab the helpless Yuri with only one hand and then the imaginable happened. The monster bit Yuri’s head off. Blood gushed out of the decapitated body of Yuri. And as the monster chewed on Yuri’s mutilated cadaver, it stared at Harvey and growled.
Harvey carefully retreated to the armored vehicle so as not to upset the feeding monster. He took out his cellphone and called 911.
“911, how may I help you?”
“Please, please send somebody here at once. I’m in trouble.” Harvey pleaded in a soft panicky voice.
“What seems to be the problem sir and where are you calling?”
“Something is after me. Hurry. I don’t have much time. Please I’m begging you! “
“Sir, your address?”
“ Im 15 minutes down the lone highway going to Barkerfield. To be exact, I’m near the...” And before Harvey could complete the sentence he was loudly interrupted with loud bump at back of the vehicle.
Startled, Harvey drops the unfinished call and runs toward the driver seat to start the vehicle. But before he could take off, a gigantic boulder lands in front of the hood of the vehicle smashing the engine and breaking the windshield wide open.
Cool foggy air breezes inside the vehicle as Harvey screams out loudly and retreats to the back of the vehicle. He could hear the monster growling and panting like it was very mad.
“Kabam!” “Kabam!” and the vehicle roof became dented with bullet proof windows shattering.
The monster then tries to rip open the roof of the vehicle exposing in its sight the terrified lone passenger inside.
Instictively, Harvey looked around his surrounding to find anything to defend himself with. He sees the cache of weapons and grabs hold of a grenade.
With the roof partly exposed after being slowly ripped apart, the monster inserts his arm inside to grab hold of Harvey.
“Aahrrg!” Harvey felt the pain on one of his legs as the monsters grabs hold of it. Harvey knew he had little option left as such he pulls the pin out of the grenade. Harvey didn’t wanted to get eaten alive. He rather choose to kill himself and if possible take the monster with him as well.
But as the monster pulls outs Harvey out of the vehicle, Harvey felt pain on his leg like it was being ripped apart. He drops the grenade inside the vehicle.
Like a rag doll, Harvey was then throw out by the monster. He lands at least 40 feet away from the vehicle onto some thick heavy bushes which soften his landing.
Three seconds later, Harvey heard loudest explosion he had ever heard and a large fire ball erupted. Still dazed from the ordeal, Harvey tried to open his eyes and see if the monster had been killed. His vision blurred and soon afterwards he collapsed as all his strength has been zapped from him.
“Where am I?” Harvey asked as he opened his eyes.
“Your now at Barkerfield Medical safe.” Replied the
doctor with a police office standing near him.
“How long have I’ve been out?”
“Its now a month and half since the ambulance found you almost dead on the highway. We had to operate on you because you have sustained several internal injuries. Unfortunately, we could not save your left leg. You are lucky you were able to wake up from your coma, other’s don’t.”
Harvey looked down and he could see he was missing one leg. But at least he was lucky to be alive, again.
“Sorry to interrupt you doc, may we ask your patience several question if you don’t mind?” asked the detective standing besides the doctor.
“Sure. Go ahead.”, replied the doctor.
“Sir, can you remember what happened that night?”
But before Harvey could relate his ordeal, the detective got interrupted with an emergency call on his police radio.
“Not again. Are you sure?” the detective replied to the radio.
“Excuse me officer, can I know what is the matter?” Harvey curiously asked the officer although he knew already in his mind the dreadful answer.
“Nothing to concern you sir, but if you had been reading the newspaper lately, we had been having reported missing people in Barkerfield since October 31. Now, some people are reporting to me that they are hearing a loud animal howl of somesort. I just don’t know what is happening to this town? ”
“I do….” Harvey answered back, “Just get me the hell as far away from this town and I’ll tell you everything.”
This particular moc marks my return from a long absence( more than a year) from mocing as such I wanted it very special. Its also my entry to the 2011 scary bionicle contest at Bionicle Display.
Among the features of this moc are:
1. Its tall( it can stand as tall as 80 cm but it looks more awesome on its monster stance at 60 to 65 cm)
2. Its BIG ( it weighs in at 3.8 pounds making the second heaviest creation I have made so far) Its head alone is quite heavy.
3. It incorporates a unique lunging head and hunchback body which makes the creation even more difficult to make.
4. It has good articulation and poseability( Despite its size, it can be posed. The head alone is supported by 5 connectors for its neck making the head tiltable. Each leg is connected to the hip by 5 connectors to make it articulate and strong enough to hold the weight. Knees, elbow, ankle, wrist, fingers, and the mouth can be moved. Its body is constructed in a way that makes it solid hold well the limbs of the moc.
5. All in all, this moc took me around 5 days or a total of 12 hours to make this moc and an hour to write the story, and two hours to picture and post and finish the final presentation.
This is freaking awesome!!! Arguably one of the best mocs ive ever seen!

Say Harvey, you're a master builder (and my inspiration to join MOCPages), so I was wondering if you caould give me some good C&C on a certain MOC of mine. He happens to be my self-MOC and I'm always looking for ways to improve him. I really think that you're the best person to ask. I once asked Yuri but you weren't active then. anyway, if you could comment and tell me what needs to be improved please tell me. even if you don't like it one bit just tell me where I need to improve.
Truly godly, amazing, and scary. great to see he's back and better than ever ! :D I love all the details, especially in the face like the teeth, tongue, snout and eye brows. Truly amazing ! But not just that, the moc is huge and creepy, and well designed to hold up the weight ! :D 5/5
As with past works, this return submission IS special, Harvey. I love building on the big scale, and am glad to see such creative solutions to the weight problems when someone else does too. Great creativity, well-marshaled tribute to the Speilberg-ian original 'Stripe'-style Gremlin, too. Excellent work! Cheers!
