This ship was build over the summer and early fall of 2011. It's a destroyer-class warship in The Classic Space fleet. Heavily armed and feared throughtout the deep reaches of space, it fight countless battles and rarely comes home with significant damages. It took me 8 months to build and I think at contains about 12000 pieces. 186 studs long, 60 studs wide and 70 studs tall.
About this creation
This is my first attempt to build a big ship using a technic frame. I did this to avoid the bigbox syndrom and increase the use of inverted slopes at the underside. It's actually still a big box but with studs on all 4 sides, giving options to create shape and SNOT angles. It comes with full interior at 4 levels, taking the staff from level to level by an elevator at the end of the ship. Some of details and use of speciffic parts is inspired by Daniel Jassim, other is pure imagination and see where it ends. I hope You all enjoy and please take time to rate and comment. Thanks:-)
never a dull moment on MOCpages... wow, that's one big ship. for minifig-scale, anyway. the crazy thing is that this is hardly more than a bulk freighter or light frigate... man, that's mind-boggling to think about. I absolutely love this thing, and REALLY wish I had the pieces/funds to build something like this myself. being a hardcore Star Wars fan I find the weapons (particularly the ion cannons and the big cannon on front) but it's really quite fine. anyway, excellent work.

my question will be: "how did you do? On designing that whole thing!" Without having the bricks?
The last Year I have been working extra much, taking extra time and when we reached summertime I had saved so much overtime that I got a huge amount of money and payed vacation for a whole month. A lot of the extra money was used on byuing parts at bricklink. Since i started using bricklink I learned the item names a as before I made a shopping list for colors and parts I would be using. Most of the parts came from Europe and only a few from the USA. I bought parts in the blue and old gray colors from maybe 30 different shops. Within 2 months all the parts was at my home storage ready to be used. It took some time before the best solution for a technic frame was made. The nose part is made by technic bricks and click-hinges put together for a 8 side section. I had to keep in mind allways to have studs to build from. Modified bricks with studs on the sides are a good part for that purpose. As for as designing the ship it's pure skills and imagination and keep trying untill you reach the best solution. I cuold keep on for hours writnig about how to build but I have to stop now:-)

how did you do the bottom like that? it looks like you glued the pieces on upside down
Good question Samuel:-) At the straight section all 4 sides are 16 studs wide. The technic frame was build by creating a box where all 4 sides had studs turning out. I have uploaded some trailer/construction pictures in another folder. Imagine this: You take 4 technic bricks let's say 1x8. Place 2 bricks at a 16 stud distance and take a 8x16 brick and place on top. Now you have a big brick where both the short sides has a technic brick at the underside. Raise the section to vertical position. Under the technic bricks you place 2 bricks with studs on the sides by eachother, with the studs turning out. This section you make twice and yet again you place the 2 sections with 16 studs distance. The exposed studs on each section can now be used and yet again you take a 8x16 brick and place on the studs from the bricks with studs on the sides. All of the sudden you have a box with studs on all sides, YAY:-)
Cool, waiting for the next pics! I'll be there! I really love that ship, but asked myself if that it would be better with some structure/greebles for the interior of the threatening front laserbeam... Just an idea! I add my comment and reply for my ship, and many thanks to have commented, buddy: "I want to thank LDD for bringing me back to Lego, and to this cool site full of talented and nice builders: MOCpages! Look at what I have done after a dark age of 20 years! =)" http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/252434
Groovy baby! So that big boy is getting its last parts! I suppose it's not yet finished(the missing parts you) were talking about!
That ship is a condensate of what I love the most: massive, with very nice curves and design! I love it! I'll be happy to see it finished, with its front deadly laser beam! Hey! Would you come to see my own new big ship project? http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/295836 =)
