More Power Rangers inspired micro mecha

What on Earth are the Space Ninjas?
I've been asked that question a few times across various websites and the simple answer is... I don't know. I made up the name about a week ago (late November 2011) as a catch all, power ranger like, super robot team. My original plan was for a team of robots that combine to form a bigger robot, but the mechanics at this scale are HARD! So I compromised with this Mega Zord inspired micro mecha concept.

I've since been toying with some story ideas for the Space Ninjas, many of which are blatant Power Ranger inspired fan fictions. But to date this is the gist:

2,000 years ago the combined ninja clans of Earth banished a great and powerful evil into the abyss, from which it was prophesied that it one day it would eventually escape. Fast forward to the future, approximately 500 years from now. To prepare for the return of the great evil, the ninjas infiltrated various facets of human culture, arranging for the construction of a colony/training academy to be built in secret on a newly colonised Asteroid beyond Saturn. There they have devised an entire fleet of craft capable of assuming super robot forms. Piloted by ninjas, these robots are like a scalpel cutting away evil from the galaxy, where as the regular military are more like a bazooka.

But the prophecy is about to be fulfilled and the great evil has chosen the BioBeasts of Glorm as his instruments. When they recapture the abyss, he will rise again!

who is the Stealth Shadow...?

Ok, as with any good super robot team, there has to be a rouge element or rival who comes good in the end. Here we have the renegade Stealth Shadow.

Stealth Shadow is a powerful cruiser vehicle which is more than a match even for the Gold Fleet. It was designed to be the core of a new Stealth Shadow Fleet, but so far only the core exists.

However after joining forced to defeat the ultimate evil, the 3 forces learn that the Stealth Shadow has the same capabilities as the Red Bomber, and combine to form a new Super Robot form after the Red Bomber is incapacitated.

Needing more power to finish the job, the Gold fleet combines with the new super robot to form the Stealth Shadow Ultra Robot, the Space Ninja's most powerful weapon (to date).

I'm attempting to give the team far more versatility in their combined forms. As mentioned above I'm planning an entire team of stealth craft that combine to form a second super robot, and maybe even a second ultra mode. I'm being careful to ensure all the various components combine in some form with both groups, allowing a mix and match system.

Ultimately I'd love to have a mode using ALL the components, but I'll settle for two ultra forms standing side by side for now.

more pictures to follow once I've brainstormed the new limb vehicles.
