P-380 Corona
the P-380 Corona
About this creation
the P-380 Corona was developed at the height of the Earth Colonial War, by the Aerospatial Engineering Corps of the Colonial Liberation Army. harkening back to the ancient wars of old Earth, they stumbled across the design for the P-38 Lightning. they were fascinated by such a revolutionary Airframe, and swiftly set to work constructing a similar spaceframe.

the P-380 was, in the second Battle of Deimos, an unparalleled success. the Earth Corps was completely unprepared for such a maneuverable craft, and the battle is generally considered to be one of the final turning points of the war. Driven by 2 Heliks R-80 plasma drives, the P-380 can accelerate in a vacuum at almost 15Gs. It's rigid Myocarbon skeleton can withstand the force of a full-throttle flip-turn with minimal momentary deformation, and it's four Cold-Coiled Particle Guns can shred unshielded armor in seconds, and are accurate to 500 km in vacuum. power is supplied by a Balicon-Z fusion plant, which is integrated into the pilot's compartment, it's outermost shell forming the pilot's backrest. it's a tight fit all-around, but the extra power was, by all accounts, worth the discomfort.

the forward scoops on the R-80's use the Bussard effect to scoop additional fusible mass into the reaction chambers, effectively 'supercharging' the engines

the Cold-Coiled Particle Guns are mounted in pairs above and below the wing plane. they are a modular weapon system, and variants on this spaceframe mounted all manner of weapons, from positron bores to 88mm sniper cannons

the engines and their accompanying equipment occupy the entire length of the booms. note, in particular, the parallel plasma coils mounted just ahead of the vertical tailplanes.
