Quoting The Crimson Angel (Troika)
Does anyone know if there is a site somewhat like MOCpages that is for Megabloks?
I don't think there's any one who likes mega blocks but not Lego.. Just use MOCpages, even if the community doesn't like 'em, mega blocks ARE allowed. ... Here's my philosophy on mega blocks: It's not the mega blocks are so bad, its that Legos are so good. Legos have much higher quality than mega blocks, if you want Lego Halo, that's simple. Just build it from non-halo Lego sets. Lots of people do it, and Lego is clearly superior to mega blocks.
I agree on the quality issue regarding Mega Bloks plastic, though I do like the Mega Bloks figures for their detailed design and poseability (they're the my main priority if I buy MB sets). The vehicles are good IMHO, since they manage to be very accurate to the actual vehicles from the game, but MB uses far more specialized pieces than LEGO does, so they're less useful for MOCing purposes. Because of that, I personally don't compare LEGO to MB that much - LEGO is far more about creativity and creating own things, while MEGA BLOKS is more about show-accurate models, which is also fun.
Yes...they're not LEGO. Mega Bloks has just tried to profit from trying to copy Legos idea. A cheap imitation, and inferior product. Just look at that base plate thingy, it looks like one hunk of bad quality plastic that involves no skill or thought to put together. I'm not saying you shouldn't like or get enjoyment out of them, as you obviously do. But they're not really welcome on a LEGO sharing website.
ok here is the thing mega bloks are terrible but the only thing i like from them are the halo figures. and here is something for every one that uses brick arms mega blocks use brick arms for their weapons. so i have had my say, so there
Personally, I've always felt that MegaBloks lacks ingenuity. Where LEGO has a million and one uses for each brick, it seems like MB often casts new pieces for specific purposes. It really feels like the set designers aren't really trying.
So, for me, my disdain doesn't stem from the inferiority or non-LEGO nature of the blocks, but rather the perceived ability to build things with less effort.
they might not hold together and might not be genuine, but i have like 20 of the sets and i only use them for a giant landscape i have in my basement i like them alot in my opinion plus they are fun to build
yes.....its not Lego, inferior quality, different material, colours fade in time, looser tolerances, shall I continue? Lego is the superior product.
You could make your own custom Halo models using 100% Lego now that would be cool!
I've only had a single piece on any of these halo sets not stick to its other piece. All I had to do was go online and to the request center and say I needed another piece because I had a defective piece. I don't see any problem with them.
We'll, this is a LEGO website. And Mega Bloks aren't the "genuine" plastic bricks and people seem to like the original. Also, Mega Bloks is a smaller company and they produce cheap quality toys. There have been reports of the blocks melting and or fusing together in the packaging due to the low quality plastic.
I think that its not that they don't particularly like it, although most don't, its that this is a lego sharing website- it specifically says that on the header at the top: "MOCpages Share your LEGO creations" but I'm sure there are mega bloks websites to..... just a thought
