Devious Monocle Society
The Devious Monocle Society Headquarters.
About this creation
Another new building for the Steampunk/Dieselpunk town. This little building is the home of the Devious Monocle Society, a hideout for the gents in town. Features a cushy seating area and a nice loft area, the second and third floors will be furnished eventually.

very stylish and distinctive! Im anxious to see your layout, if just to understand why you shape them rectangular like that!

Quoting Mr. Xenomurphy I know I've already commented (twice), but I had to come back and thank you for inspiring me to perhaps build a steampunk-lovecraft-boardgame.
That would be fantastic!

I know there's a good chance you're going to be judging, but are you participating in the MOCAthalon this year? If you're competing, "The Expendables" would be glad to have you. I'll send you an invite to the group, hopefully I'll see you there!

Quoting Dennis Price Holy Smokes, that's awesome. It's got a great post-industrial, pre-slum feel to it and, well, the Devious Monocle Society just sounds like fun. If I weren't behind on a certain comic and a space story thing I'd love to take a crack at a DMS story. Perhaps this spring... Anyway, back to the build. The upper stories are really eye-catching, and the coloring is pure gothicpunk or whatever we're calling this style these days.
I'd love to have a DMS story if you find the time :)

First, I love the whole concept and the idea you came up with. Second, the colouring and texture of the building is perfect. Third, I also love the name. You know, we Germans are always wearing monocles. In order to fool foreigners, most of us are wearing 2 and pretend that those are regular glasses.

Excellent build, I'm glad to see you added some nice texture to the back of the building. This makes me think of HG Wells' The Time Machine for some reason.

This monocle you talk about and gents' hideout ... reminds me of this lounge of unruly ... never mind ... Um, what everybody said! Beautiful!

I can see so much goings on in this building!!! The wonderfully titled (oh the smile that brought to my face) Devious Monocle Society smoking and scheming on the ground floor, and above them juicy secret happenings taking place.. maybe above them lives the apartment of some mad inventor who preforms crazy experiments that regularly rock the foundations, or there is a strange man living in one of the rooms who wears a mask and comes and goes late at night... the ideas could go on forever! What a wonderful building. The colours, the character, everything is great. I think turning your town layout to Steampunk/dieselpunk is the best idea you guys could ever have done. I can't wait to see more!

I just love the colors that you've been choosing for these new buildings! The interior, though incomplete, looks most promising. I can't wait to see what you come up with next!~H

Another fanastic building! I've been watching the Murdoch Mysteries that I get thru netflix, and I just saw an episode about a murder involving the accounts and where the accounting books where kept in a Masonic Lodge... top floor... Hiriam Room. Murdoch Mysteries take place in Canada around 1889 and he dabbles with the new science of Forensics... similiar time period as steampunk. So... el Barto's comment and suggestion are truely worth thinking about! :)

Excellent color work and detailing in this, very realistic. You could easily write an entire series around this building, especially what may transpire in the attic!

This town is going to be EPIC when you guys are done with it! Each little building just gets better and better! If you haven't thought of it yet, maybe a hanger near the rear of this for launching their derig... deregg... ballons! (hehe) ~ Chris.

Fantastic! Another great piece for your layout! This one seems to bring out a more cozy and "at home" feeling to me than steampunkish. The color choice is very nice as well. Great job :)
