AE-1 Mountaineer
The AE-1 Mountaineer.
About this creation

The AE-1 Mountaineer is one of my best mecha (in my opinion). With several combat loadouts, the Mountaineer is very flexible (not physically). It is 21 bricks high, a standard sized mecha in my opinion. Called the "Mountaineer" for a reason, this mecha's long legs and oversized feet make it perfect for mountain ambushes, though not exclusively so. The many boosters and thrusters on it also it to "jump" to ledges otherwise it could not reach. The Mountaineer also implements a new power core technology that utilizes excess heat as power. This is called the Heat Recycle Power Core, or HRPC.

The basic Mountaineer, ready to be customized. Carries a NEX-MNT25, a dual weapon purpose weapon. It's a moderate grenade launcher and standard laser rifle in one. Notice the new ammo cartridges. Also has two shoulder joint rocket launchers.

A backview of the Mountaineer basic.

One of our test bots malfunctioned and tried to attack one of the Mountaineers waiting to be customized. The result was not a pretty sight.

The AE-1.1 Mountaineer CQC. Armed with two laser pistols, two beam sabres, two shoulder mounted laser gatling guns and equipped with two large shields. Instead of shoulder joint rocket launchers, this mech has two highly powerful cannons.

A backview of the Mountaineer CQC. It has extra thrusters on it's hips so it can keep up with lighter models.

More on the other loadouts soon to follow. Checkout the LDD file to see the basic Mountaineer.

NOW we're talking! this, my friend, is an EXCELLENT Mech. Forte should use this as reference material. :P outstanding work on the bulkiness of it, it has a nice, beefy feel. you, sir, just accomplished what I've been trying for MONTHS to do with my Wraith frames. my two main complaints with this are 1. the hands, which, as Bio said, need to be bigger. standard mini-Mech hands might work well. and 2. the missile launchers connecting the shoulders to the body. they look cool that way, and it gives the Mech a nice broad-ness, but on the realistic side of things it's impractical. a pistol round would probably detonate the missiles, and the Mountaineer would lose its arms. :P I LOVE the technique you used for tilting the chest like that. pure brilliant. anyway, nice Mech.

Getting better, but for the love of all things mechaniering, do something with THOSE HANDS! :P Just kidding, but the hands are probably the biggest issue in my opinion: clips just don't do it with mechs of this size. You've done a nice job with the armoring in most places, though I'm not a fan of the head. Also, the sword seems a bit blunt on the end, might have wanted to add a pointy-er piece on the top. Still, this is quite an improvement over all of your other mechs.
