Sculpture of company logo for "4D's Board Shop" located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
About this creation
This was my first attempt at building a large scale sculpture of a logo. Not my best work but I had to make my beginnings somewhere.
I had intended it only to be my display for the 2004 EXPO New Mexico / The New Mexico State Fair. I did use it for the EXPO but I couldn't bring my self to take it apart for more than a year. In 2005, I spoke with the owners of the shop to ask If I could display it in their store before the Christmas Holiday season. They happily agreed to allow me to do so.
Before I was going to set up I got an idea to slap together a Snowboarding Maxifig. The 2005 Expo was already over and I still had the Girl Maxifig assembled. She was half scrapped to lend her legs and arm rotation gear assembly to the Snowboarder for the Holiday Store Display. I used my flag building method to give his snowboard the necessary flex to give realism to the snowboard. To make him cooler, I gave his head some blue sunglasses and a beanie cap to match his torso. Using the gear mechanisms in the torso, I rotated his arms into a somewhat action pose. I added a snow powder splash to emphasize snow.
The gift boxes you see are alo made of Lego, including the ribbon stripes on the boxes. The bows are store-bought bows. Accompanying the display is a festive ribbon stripe made of red and white 1x2 bricks, and that is what you see wrapping from around the corner.
Thank you for visiting this MOC page and I hope I have inspired you to create.
Thanks much, -Marshall.
Thank you Marcel. I've been skateboarding since 1986. I love skating as much as I love Lego. When I was a kid, of course I wanted to be sponsored, but now it's more of a "Zen/Stay Healthy" kind of thing. :)
