About this creation

Here is the box. As you can see, this set is part of the new Super Heroes range and this is the "6863 Batwing Battle For Gotham City" set. Age range of 7 - 14 and I'd say that's probably about right. A nice looking box. Nothing special.

When the box is opened, you get three bags, one instruction booklet, a sticker sheet and issue 4 of the comic.

Right, this is what you have once the sets are built. I do quite like this set although the Batwing is a little small if you ask me.

The wings on the Batwing are movable. This shows them completely closed. The Bat-Symbols on the wings are stickers.

And this shows them as far open as they go.

This is the underside of the Batwing. It's a bit flat. The only bit of shaping is the one slope down at the back. That could have been better but oh well.

Here you can see the giant flames coming out of the back. These spin round. You can also see that the rear hatch opens up and if you press the button inside...

the Bat-bomb drops down. The Bat-bomb itself isn't brilliantly made. It seems a bit like they ran out of time, threw something together and said, "Yeah, that'll do." but the mechanism is quite good and is a good play feature for younger builders.

Here you can see that the cockpit lifts up so that you can seat batman at the controls. There is no way of sticking Batman down though so he slides around a little inside.

Under the wings you can see you get flick-fire missiles, one on each side.

Now, onto The Joker's Helicopter. Here is the tail fin. I like the "J" on it. That's a sticker. Oh and just something I noticed. On the box, the rear propeller is on the right side of the tail whereas the instructions tel you to put it on the left (As shown here.)

The cockpit lifts up so you can seat The Joker's goon inside. Nothing special but nicely done.

A better view at the front of the chopper.

If you push this button on the back...

The bomb with the grinning face on the front shoots out. Another nice play feature that younger builders will appreciate more than older ones.

Again, on the helicopter just like The Batwing, you get flick-fire missiles. This time you get two on each side. The Joker's face's are both stickers too.

This is the 'rope' ladder. I like this. It's really well thought out. A nice design.

A better look inside The Batwing's cockpit without Batman in it.

And a look inside the Helicopter's cockpit with no henchman.

Now... onto the figures. You get three figures with this set. Batman in his black costume (Only available in this set and the "6864 Batmobile and The Two-Face Chase" set.), The Joker and one of The Joker's thugs.

Here is the back of the goon figure. I really like the jacket. If you get a lot of these you could have a proper Joker gang!

The back of The Joker. I LOVE this figure of The Joker! There's a little bit of back-printing on his top and he has a double-sided face which is really good.

And this is the back of Batman. Again, a really nice figure. More back printing and again a double-sided face.

These are the spare pieces that you're left over with when you've finished the build.

Playability Factor:10/10
Value For Money:7/10

This is a really good set with a fair few play features. The Batwing could do with being a bit bigger and having more shaping underneath. The Joker's helicopter is a very nice design. The price for me is a tad expensive, I'd probably say it should be £35.99 rather than it's £39.99 price tag.
The figures are brilliant. I think this set is modeled off of the scene in the 1989 film "Batman" starring Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as The Joker because the figures costumes look very similar to that of those in the film and there is also a scene in the film in which Batman saves Gotham in his Batwing from The Joker who has plans to gas the city. (If you're a Batman fan and you haven't seen that film; Do! It's a great film. A bit old now but still very good.)
The comic that you get isn't very good. There are no words and there doesn't seem to be a coherent story in it. Some of the pictures are the same as in other "Super Heroes" sets where you get a comic.
Overall this is a great set that older builders will love to build and younger ones will love to play with.

Thank you to The Essence Of Randomness, Elite Captain Jelli, M.O.P and Biswernicov who bought me this set as a late Christmas present!!!

There will be another set review out shortly of the "6857 Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape" set. Keep an eye out!

This is the second version of the Batman sets, which were a bit bigger and had bigger missiles on them. I like the new sets a little bit, but the older sets were better.
