A quadruped tank produced by the Federation of Karlsbeen Republics, but sold to a rebel faction on the planet of Alkar.
About this creation
This nifty little thing was originally built for a contest on the Saber-Scorpion's Lair Forums, but after a day or two of building the main body, I stumbled across a problem. How the 'ell was I going to attach the legs? So I consulted my good friend Artyr Artemis, and he showed me a design he used on his Keras mech. So credit goes to Artyr for the method of attaching the legs.
In addition to the contest, I have another use planned... But that shall remain shrowded in secrecy (for the most part). Though anyone who can guess at this gets a cookie.
UPDATE: Well, it would appear that I've won that contest I mentioned earlier! Contest results
The Federation of Karlsbeen Republics lies across the pond from the Zaragan Empire, and the FKR is the second largest and richest nation on the planet of Zaraga. As such, it has the capability to blow billions on developing designs that may, in the end, be deemed "useless." That was what they did when developing the quadruped tank.
The story goes that an FKR engineer got drunk and started messing around on his design computer, producing a combination between a tank and a four-legged walker. A fellow drunk engineer walked by, thought it was good, and told the other engineer to send the design off to the top brass. Needless to say, it was accepted, and the engineers were put to work developing a prototype. Billions of Marks later (the Mark is the currency used by the FKR), a fully-functional prototype was developed. This prototype, the XW-203, was successful, and production of the AW-203 began. The AW-203 was deemed the "Phoenix" and sent to patrol the FKR’s borders. It saw active combat during the battles for South Karlsbeen and West Karlsbeen and later combat against Zaragan forces during the invasion of these regions. It also served a role in taking back parts of East Karlsbeen from the Union of Islands.
Front line infantry and tank drivers have affectionately begun calling this vehicle the "Crab Walker," and even the military top brass has taken a liking to this name. Common names for the vehicle are variants of "Crab Walker," including "The Crab" and "Crab Tank."
This particular Crab Walker was sold to the Alkar Resistance Movement, along with 23 other Crab Walkers.
Staring into the eyes of the beast... The white, while appearing to be painted on, is actually an adaptive camouflage surface. Depending on the environment, the camouflage can be changed to a different color. For now, it is set on white, one of the colors of the A.R.M. If it were in use by the FKR, the camouflage would be set to green, one of the FKR's colors.
The design is pretty good, a nice use of SNOT to get rid of studs. Like the other review, the gunner puts the walker together. I still think that you could do more with the "space" inside your creations. After looking at your other creations, it seems that the both of our MOCs are pretty similar...
