A domus is a Roman town house, in contrast to a villa in the countryside, which actually consisted of several buildings.
About this creation
I'm trying to build one, but it takes time and a lot of bricks. To the right, you can see the roof for the front part of the building.
The triclinium (dining room) is almost done. The floor has a mosaic, there are the characteristical red walls. Like the ones found in Pompeii, but those had originally been yellow. Only the vulcanic gases turned them red.
The atrium (courtyard) also has a mosaic, a piscina (a pond).
The atrium also has a shady tree.
The house will probably not have a privy and maybe not even a kitchen, because many Romans had their food to go and went to public toilet buildings.
This is the newer view through the main entrance into the atrium. I have added an altar for the house gods. BTW, the amphora, the slave is holding, is my own design, printed by Shapeways.
