This is the first part to a story of a young Dwarf earning his beard.
About this creation
Deep in the mountains of Ered Luin, a Dwarf Lord sits on his throne.
Lord:"Bring me my son."
Servant:"Yes my Liege."
The servant leaves and the Lord's son enters.
The Lord stands and produces a small, rectangular object.
Lord:"Son, it's time for you to earn your beard. Journey to the Lonely Mountain, the home of our fathers. Take the Crest of the Dwarf Lords and use it to unite all the Dwarves in Middle Earth. Once you have earned your beard, you will be the Lord of all Dwarves...
...and here is your battle-axe, every Dwarf needs one...
...and here is a pack to keep your new equipment in. Good luck my son."
The young Dwarf paused only to examine his new equipment and then, packing his bag, set out for the Lonely Mountain.
The Dwarf stopped and called back to his father:"I will not fail you father!"
The Dwarf stepped out of the cavern and onto the snow capped peaks.
Looking out over the icy landscape the Dwarf wondered what his destiny would be.
In another part of the snow capped mountains, a young boy and his father stand in the cold.
Father:"Son, it is time for you to finish your training. You are to be an explorer of Gondor, to bear that title is to be ready for anything. I have taught you all I know, now with these gifts, finish what you began...
...I give you the explorer's sword, it is the sharpest available...
...the shield of Gondor, it will protect you from any attack...
...an explorer's helmet, it will guard your mind from wizard's spells...
...my own armor, it has seen many battles but will protect you in battle...
...and finally, my old horse. Like my armor, this steed has seen much death and blood but it will do its job...
...and I almost forgot, my cloak and this map. This is no ordinary map, it will lead you to whatever you need to find. Go my son and finish what you started."
The boy mounts the horse and rides off into the distance.
The father watched as his son disappeared into the distance then turned and left.
In yet another part of the mountains, a young Elf warrior watches as a small, brown shape moved closer.
The shape came closer and the Elf drew his sword.
The shape came close enough to reveal an armored boy with sword in hand.
The Elf knocked the boy off his steed and quickly dismounted, preparing to kill the boy.
Boy:"Wait, I'm a boy!"
The boy stood and removed his helmet.
Elf:"What is a man-er-boy doing out here?"
Boy:"I am training to become an explorer of Gondor. I might ask you the same question,"
Elf:"I was returning to Rivendell with my father when I was lost."
Boy:"Maybe I can help you. I will help you get back to Rivendell and you can help me finish my training. My name's Lothar by the way.
Elf:"My name's Liam R'Mala. I'd be happy to accompany you on your quest to finish your trainig.
Lothar:"Let's go then."
The two companions mounted their steeds and set off for Rivendell.

Great story! but why the microfigure for the dwarf?
The dwarf is supposed to be young. Similar in age to the boy and elf. About 14 years old. And dwarves are smaller than other races in middle earth. it was also an attempt to make the story a little funnier.
