The Scorpion
This is a LEGO model of a Scorpion-shaped mech from my series of models called the Anti-Insectoids.
About this creation
The Story (created by myself):
In the years following the Great Civil War between the Unitron Empire and the Explorien Frontier, Earth and its conquered planets were left open for attack by forces from outside their galaxy. These forces came in the form of the UFOs. Using advanced technology, not to mention the bizarre biology of their species, which gave some telekinetic abilities and some the ability to shape-shift, the UFO forces almost wiped out the human race. Unfortunately for the leader of the UFO forces, Emperor Zegaldorph, their old enemies, the Insectoids, had followed them. In the great three-sided war that followed, many Insectoids, Extraterrestrials, and humans died. In the end, thanks to the heroics of the remaining Exploriens and Unitrons, the UFOs were forced to retreat. But, their forces being far less depleted, the Insectoids stayed behind... and began attacking Earth in the place of the UFOs. In desperation, Rick, leader of the Unitrons, formed an elite corps of fighters to defend Earth against the Insectoids... the Anti-Insectoids.

Pilot: Leo Thompson

Troop Commander: Edward Freeman

Capacity: 7 passengers, 1 pilot

Armaments: 4 Turbolasers, 3 Machineguns, 2 Armor-Piercing Rockets, 2 Medium Lasers, 1 Anti-Air Proton Torpedo, 1 Crushing Claw

Top Speed: 30 mph

Extra Information: The AAV-AI3 Scorpion is the most powerful Anti-Insectoid vehicle. It is also the toughest, as well as the slowest. It carries a squad of six troops, under the command of Edward Freeman, an expert military commander, formerly a commander of the Unitrons during the Unitron/Explorien Civil War. He is a skilled tactician, if somewhat severe, but he probably will not live for long fighting the Insectoids on foot... none of his troops ever do. The pilot, Leo Thompson, brother of Amanda West, was a commander of the Exploriens. The two, who fought on opposite sides during the Civil War, still do not enjoy working with each other, but they will do anything to protect their world from the invading aliens. The Scorpion is the best vehicle in which to do that. It is very heavily armored, which makes up for its lack of speed. Its stinger can whack aircraft from the sky as well as shoot them, though the former method is somewhat primitive and extremely hard to pull off. Its two claws can crush enemy infantry and vehicles as well as confiscate Insectoid power cores. The crushing claw with its wicked knives is an Insectoid soldier's worst fear.

The knives in the Scorpion's large claw are an Insectoid's greatest fear.

Interrogating captured Insectoids is one of Freeman's favorite pastimes, especially since the loyal Insectoids almost never tell him anything, in which case he usually shoots them.

Don't ask me why I put the soldiers' visors on upside-down... Just to be different, I suppose.

This unfortunate Insectoid is receiving the Big Claw Treatment.

When it isn't shooting, the tail gun can whack enemy ships out of the sky. Of course, the pilot needs almost superhuman skill to do this.

Here's a nice view of the Scorpion. You can see that the vehicle employs Insectoid leg technology.

Of course, the vehicle could just shoot its foes with its arsenal of weapons, but where would the fun be in that?

In reply to Soren Roberts: Wow, I never expected such a great customizer to be so inconsiderate of young builders. I built this years ago, Soren, when I was just starting to build LEGO's. No need to be a jerk about it.

In reply to Totalimmortal: No, I don't expect a five for this model. As I said, it's old - I built it years ago. And compared to my newer work, it's a piece of junk.

The exterior looks perfect. The interior is ok, given that it's just a troop transport room.

I loved the insectoids when they came out. Lego's old storylines and themes were so cool. Thank you so much for digging up the great Lego themes of the past!!!

It doesn't look so bad to me. After all, it does look like a scorpion. It doesn't have an awfully detailed interior, but hey it was one of your earlier MOCs so what's one to expect? Now that you've grown in your building skills, I'd like to see you have another go at making a Scorpion vehicle, perhaps for your Saber Scorpion line-up?

Well, its a scorpion. And you made it. I guess you're expecting me to give you a five right? Well.......might as well.

Large, yet poorly designed and shoddily articulated. Amusing, at least. For all that you've written about it, one would think you'd put as much care into the model itself.
