About this creation
The Dawn Forge ICM-23 is a medium mech built to excel in combat. It has heavy armor, powerful weaponry, and speed to match. It is useful in a variety of situations, from straight up combat to guard duty to reconnaissance and more. It is a favorite of the crews who drive it, and has a kill/loss ratio of 12/1.
The mech was designed to be well-protected yet fast. Although some compromise was inevitable, the end result was a success.
Equipped with next-generation high-speed hydraulics, this mech can reach a top speed of 76 mph, pretty good for a 60 ton mech.
The armor is an advanced composite, consisting of tungsten, carbon fiber, ceramic plating, and a shock-absorbant gel between the layers. The resulting armor was immensly strong for its weight.
The ICM-23 has 5-8 inches of armor. At this thickness, it can withstand tremendous punishment and still make it back to base.
The back is better about the exposed hoses, but not by much.
Each toe can move independently of the other.
Each step is calculated by the onboard Class-1 AI. This is not only capable of decision-making and problem-solving, it can also think freely and has a personality.
This allows the mech to be run without a pilot for very dangerous operations or one-way missions. Because the AI has an "artificial personality", many pilots become quite attached to their mechs.
The ICM-23 is capable of a bewildering variety of movements. It has a different gait depending on the terrain. It can stand tall or crouch down. It is even capable of dodging incoming fire, as well as random paths of movement designed to confuse enemies.

To the weapons! Shown are the M-19 quad mortar launcher and the CM-3 box missile launcher. The M-19 carries 16 rounds (four in each tube) and is used to smash enemies behind cover. It is also used in situations where brute force is required, such as taking on heavy armor. The CM-3 missle launcher contains 24 guided missiles (two in each barrel). These are used against all targets, and allow the ICM-23 to defend itself from air attacks and gunships. They are good against all armor, but the missiles speed makes it more useful against the rapid units.
The primary weapon is the AC-720 80mm autocannon. This weapon has a firing rate of 60 rpm and is formidable against all targets. The distinctive "Boom-boom-boom" is enough to force most infantry to surrender.
The weapon, designed for heavier mechs, is fed by a 300 round ammo belt in the ICM-23.*
The front boasts a CC-4 25mm chain gun. This is the primary light weapon on the mech, and fires at 550 rpm. Slat armor is also added to the nose to augment the already-strong armor.
The CC-4 and the adjacent flare launchers. The flare launchers are useful in avoiding incoming missles. The ICM-23 is powered by a diesel engine, unusual for mechs, which generally rely on reactors. The diesel produces ample power for the mech without radiation, and can power the hydraulics with a more simple mechanism than a reactor. The real reason for the choice is that the diesel is inherently resistant to EMP waves. Although the mech is shielded against such attacks, a powerful EMP pulse could penetrate through.
Although the controlls will be out, there are mechanical redundant systems for such an event.
The ICM-23 comes with the same long-range communication pack found on the VHCT-12, which also links every mech to a network for monitoring purposes, superior coordination, and fast mech-to-mech communication.
This sensor unit is the primary, but not the only, view of the outside world. It has automatic targeting capabilities, friend-or-foe identification, and powerful thermal/night vision sensing. The AI is housed with in the mech itself, as opposed to inside the AIM-23 system. The AI, in addition to managing the advanced walking, also acts as a copilot, monitoring systems and giving advice. The blue lense is the supremely accurate targeting system known as the EagleEye-7. It reduces ammo consumption by 34%.
In the crouching position, all the shock absorbers are visible.

Awesome Mech! The cockpit is a bit boxy for my tastes, and the missile pod could use a little more detail, but otherwise it's a fantastic design. I really ought to try stepping away from my CBMC-style building to make a Dawn Forge-style Mech or two...
This is a rare gem. You've created a really devistating mech, and did such a fantastic job on the highly detailed description, that I feel like I could pilot one after only minimal training. ~.o Amazing. ~cheers
