Gojulas Giga - PC (Plasma Cannon)
The Gojulas Giga is a Giganatosaurus type Zoid, one of over 200 species of biomechanical life forms around which the Zoids model, anime, and game franchise is based. The Gojulas Giga is a major Zoid in the Zoids: Fuzors anime.
About this creation

The successor to the Gojulas, Gojulas Giga is one of the mightiest Zoids the Helic Republic has ever produced. The Giga, like Zoids such as the Liger Zero, and the Berserk Fury, is based directly off a Wild Zoid. This grants it enhanced power, flexibility, and intelligence over other Zoids, giving it a huge advantage in battle.

The Gojulas Giga is capable of switching between two modes; battle mode, and pursuit mode. In battle mode, the Zoid rears back on its tail and hind legs, in an upright, Godzilla-like stance. In this position, the Zoid is most effectively able to use its claws, teeth, and tail in close combat. In pursuit mode, the Gojulas Gigas body is positioned so that the head, body, and tail are inline, allowing it to move at almost twice the speed of battle mode.

The Gojulas Giga's forte is close quarters combat, and as such it is armed with incredibly powerful jaws that can crush and dismember most enemy Zoids, and a long, heavy tail tipped with a pair of laser blades capable of cutting through even a Death Saurer's armour. In addition, the Gojulas Giga has one of the most powerful E-shields in existence, second only to the special particle absorption shield on the Madthunder. This shield is omni-directional, and surrounds the entire Zoid in a dome of shimmering blue energy. The Gojulas Giga's armour is amongst the strongest of all Zoids, constructed of an alloy called "Ancient Titanium". In addition, the Zoid is equipped with a powerful ECM that protects it from even the Dark Spiner's advanced jamming capabilities.

The Gojulas Giga lacks ranged capability, with only a single ranged weapon, the 32 Shot Zoid Core Cannon. It locks itself to the ground with the support anchors on its legs and energy is drained directly from the Zoid Core and channeled out through the spines on the Zoid's back, shooting upwards before arcing down and out to rain down on anything in the immediate area. Firing this weapon puts immense strain on the Giga's Zoid Core, and as such this weapon can only be used as a weapon of last resort. The Zoid can also be equipped with an adapter that replaces the first two pairs of fins on its shoulders, allowing for the mounting of either the Buster Cannons from the Buster Eagle, or the Republic Supercannons. Finally, the great behemoth is complete! I apologise for poor picture quality. Also some pictures were taken with flash.

This is my own concept of the Giga. I chose yellow because I had ordered yellow parts from bricklink for a now previous moc, and I decided to see if I could build the head, which started the quest to complete it.

He's about 3ft long from head to tail, and stands about 2ft tall.

He stands permanently in his battle mode, as his delicately balanced weight does not allow his body to bend forward without breaking the tail joints.

Here are some comparison pics with my two other zoid creations, the red liger and my storm sworder.

I tried to keep the scale as accurate as possible, and I think I did pretty well.

I would have loved to have made authentic giga cannons, but I thought the railgun/plasma cannon design was interesting, so the two energy cannons came to be. Since I cant photo shop, I'll give you a mental picture of how it shoots. think of it as a rail gun, with a large cluster of energy shooting out, but not like a charged particle cannon.

Some pictures with the prongs open on the cannons.

Now here is a story. Making and attaching the tail was probably the hardest and most frustrating part of the biuld. The main objective of the tail is to counter balance the head, neck, and arms, which are heavy (mostly the head). The only way I could do this was by inserting metal weights into the two largest tail sections. However, when the ball joints started snapping apart under the stress, I had no choice but to lock the joints together. This frustrated me, but I eventually got the thing to stand by itself. I would have loved to have more poseability with the tail and the body, but I think it's as good as it'll get. The tail is the reason this moc weighs about 15 pounds.

Now to explain the legs, which are the most well designed part of the moc. I bought two turntables off of Ebay thinking that they had alot of friction. Turns out they have no friction at all. So, after thinking about what to do, and after experimenting with ball and socket joints of a Kreo Transformers set, I came up with the present joint. Although you cannot see it, and I do not want to take it apart to show you, it consists of a turntable with a Kreo joint in the center held in place by technic rods and washers, which I had my dad drill holes in the joints to fit.

The feet were fun to build. The picture above shows the foot joints that were inspired by the Giga in Zoids Battle Legends, which simulates the way the foot would work in reality, unlike the toy model made by Takara Tomy (the company that invented Zoids), which were solid plastic parts. There are a few pictures in which I tried to simulate a walking motion, but the tail would not allow much movement.

Well, I apologize for the wait, and I hope it was worth it. I may try to re-engineer the tail and body sections to get more poseability, but it wont be any time soon. Don't forget to rate and comment! I enjoy reading your imput! Long live Zoids!

Quoting Knoll grey is it just going to be gojulas giga? or is it gonna be a variant ( i.e goju the ogre, gojulas giga cannon)? also i have quite a number of zoids on here and am still surprised by the low number of mocs of them. good to have more!
It will be a giga cannon variant. I am actually modeling it after the giga found in Zoids Battle Legends, which uses the buster eagle(Im not sure if they are the same thing or not). I will post more pictures once I complete the rest of it, which will be soon. Thanks for the comments.
