I was just looking up lego aircraft & came to your page. Buford is a reference to my favorite "cheap" sci-fi movie when I was a kid in the early 80's. ICE PIRATES!!!
Jason: "Any reason he's black?"
Roscoe: "Of course, I wanted him to be perfect"
hmm an alpha or a beta. an alpha(legios) would be slightly shorter in this scale but a beta(tread) would be much larger. that mecha is huge. I'm actually building/painting a resin model of those 2 at the moment,so I'll think about it.
I'm a HUGE fan of Robotech and Macross because Robotech is what started my anime craze, and for years I've build transforming lego moc-ups of the veritechs and valkyries from the shows. I currently have done a poseable transforming moc up of the VF-1J & the Hovertank from Southern Cross, and the hovertank in tank mode can fit in the palm of my hand. LOL. XD
Anywho, The only thing I can truly say about this piece is WOW. @__@ That is the BIGGEST Valkyrie moc-up I've ever seen any make for Robotech & Macross. I would love to see you tackle a Hovertank or an Alpha and Beta.
The name is from a scifi movie, I'll give that much of a hint. That is why it's major geek points if you know the movie. For the color there are many variations in different art books. Black was just my largest parts collection and red cause it went well with the black.
I tip my hat to you. This beast of a mech doesn't need a weapon. He can can simply step on minifig mech and squish it with one foot! Sadly, I don't know the Buford part unless you mean Joe Don Baker as sheriff Buford Pusser from "Walking Tall."
What a fantastic build. Itís HUGE!!! The shape and sculpting is excellent. Great transformation process too. I have also made one of these and would like to enter it into the contest. Please could you let me know how and where to enter? Thanks in advance and good luck :D
