About this creation

I returned to the X02 frame to build a slightly taller and heavier version. Thanks to the extra height I was able to incorporate longer weapons.

Included is a redesigned shotgun styled weapon, to replace the semi-automatic used by the X02. I've also added a much longer spear styled laser sword with a longer handle. Difficult to achieve using LDD, but if built in real bricks, the sword handle is designed so it can be wielded two handed.

I know from a conversation I read on a different moc (not one of mine) some people strongly dislike melee weapons with huge disproportionate handles. However, having read up a little on sword design, the handle needs to be weighted in such a way as to balance the blade, so that if held at the base of the blade the sword is perfectly in balance. Since this blade is (significantly) longer than the previous one, I felt a longer hilt was necessary. I also had plans to make it long enough for the figure to hold it two handed - sadly the joining tool on LDD is too temperamental to permit this in this one model, however I have managed it in other models. I suspect what I may need to do is fit both hands to the hilt first and then rebuild the limbs back to one shoulder and then use the join tool to attach the opposite shoulder. weŽll see.

plus since the weapon is more of a spear than a sword, the longer handle is to give it a javelin like appearance, rather than a longsword appearance. A shorter length would not fly straight, but would spin when thrown, making it impossible to hit a target.

see it wasn't just an accident :P

By the way, perhaps some credits are in order.

the x series is loosely based on an idea by nori over on brickshelf, though the only part of this design which is close to theirs is how the cockpit works, the limb and weapon designs are mostly my own.

the knee and elbow joint is actually borrowed from various other designs across the web, but most recently I've seen it on a fortenoir mecha. I've dressed it differently but it's still directly inspired by his design.

the shoulders are loosely inspired by the exo force mecha, so thanks LEGO

the foot design is actually one of my own, however I do vaguely remember seeing that three way hinge piece used somewhere on mocpages, but as a hand not a foot, if anyone comes across it let me know so I can add the appropriate credit here.

and finally I'd like to thank rabid goldfish as without the inspiration of his aegaks designs I would not have started building to minifig scale.
