I built this during the Barcelona Grand Prix. The McLaren F1 team seem determined to ruin Hamilton's season but he is staying calm and doing a great job. So here is my version of my favourite F1 car and driver. Scaled from a mini fig head but a figure does not fit inside.
About this creation
Removable engine cover and engine bay.
Go Hamilton!! Letís hope the team don't mess it up for him.
great job, i love the way the you made it appear that the steering works! though i feel bad for poor headless driver :(, btw i am currently working on a plymouth hemi cuda 71 out of real bricks! i won't have it done though, i need certain peices for finishing the interior, fixing some colors etc. but i probably have a preview of it by Saturday, impressive work 5/5!
Thank you guys. @ Cars Lover Ė it took me about 2 hours to build (just a quick build whilst watching the race). @ Joel Ė you are right I could improve the front wing. @ LB Ė Yeah they didnít put enough fuel in his car!!!! Unbelievable and unforgivable from an experienced team.
Outstanding. The way you did the wheels and having the big slicks on there, I really thought it was a bigger car. You did such a great job, I can hear that high pitch engine blasting a straight. ~cheers
Thanks everyone for the comments :D. @ Nathanael - I really hope that the McLaren team can sort out their internal problems because Button and Hamilton deserve better. @ Nick - what a fantastic day for Williams and what a season we are going to have.

Nice one.. Vodafone sign on the side, top... Yellow holders rims.., even better...
How much are all the parts for it..? If it's not a secret..?
Thanks Horvje, I am glad you like the Vodafone logo - my favourite bit. I would have liked to build the side pods in snot, but I could not figure out a way to build the logo unless I used a Ďstuds upí design. Hope that makes sense. I canít remember how much the pieces cost (not too expensive) but much cheaper than chrome. I bought most of them from Chrome Bricks (in Germany) on Brick Link. Thanks for the interest :D.
This might go better than the real one ;-) Still, very well done Pastor! I didn't think he had it in him - I don't mind being wrong... It's a great day for Williams. Oh yeah, this model is beautiful :-)
LOL at Lego builders comment, of course it's similar it's a McLaren. This is a definate upgrade on last years car. Love it Joe! One thing that would improve its accuracy is black wheels, I'm sure you've got some. Brilliant work yet again. It looks just like the real thing. Just a shame the real one cant win :-(
Thanks everyone :D. Just a bit of fun whilst watching the race. @ LB Jr - yeah it is very similar but this is a complete rebuild and includes many more details. My 2011 version was dismantled months ago.
Very nice F1 car! I like the steering imitation, but I think the diffuser would be better in upside-down position. Fortunately the McLaren didn't do stairs on the bodywork between the front wheels, so the car looks fantastic, the new rules doesn't affect on your design! Great work! :)
Hi Ryan great to hear from you, I hope all is well in your world too. It looks like you have been catching up on a lot of mocs today :D, Yeah I just canít get the inspiration to start a big project, but I am slowly getting it back. I really struggle sometimes to start something big, and I find building smaller things a good way to gear up to something more challenging. All these shiny pieces are from a BL order (from last year). They have been professionally sprayed - unfortunately it does rub off so you need to look after them. Luckily I have just enough to make something this size. Many of the pieces are actually light grey but the more important pieces (on top) are metallic. Exams must take priority but I canít wait to see your next masterclass in building. Good luck and thanks again for the kind words.
Yes! It is so shiny! Did you have to paint any parts, or did you just get a lot of metallic pieces? Either way, looks great. Thanks for the comment on my F40 by the way. I know what you mean about not having any inspiration sometimes. I've been quite busy with classes and exams the past couple of weeks, and now I'm getting a chance to catch up. I've got some ideas for what I want to build, but it will almost certainly involve some bricklink orders, so it may be a while before that one is finished. And I hope you come up with some inspiration soon, I'd love to see some kind of new big project from you! All the best to you
