I built this during the Barcelona Grand Prix. The McLaren F1 team seem determined to ruin Hamilton's season but he is staying calm and doing a great job. So here is my version of my favourite F1 car and driver. Scaled from a mini fig head but a figure does not fit inside.

It took 7 races, but finally Hamilton had his first win of the season. No messing up of the team this time. Now if only Button solves his issues and becomes competitive again... |

Thank you guys. @ Cars Lover – it took me about 2 hours to build (just a quick build whilst watching the race). @ Joel – you are right I could improve the front wing. @ LB – Yeah they didn’t put enough fuel in his car!!!! Unbelievable and unforgivable from an experienced team. |

@Detomaso - haha. Mortal, what is the issue with Mclaren? Hi LB Jr, The Mclaren team just keep making mistakes that cause their drivers lots of time. Usually they are excellent but this year not so ;(. Still, it’s looking like an amazing season. :D

Nice one.. Vodafone sign on the side, top... Yellow holders rims.., even better...
How much are all the parts for it..? If it's not a secret..? Thanks Horvje, I am glad you like the Vodafone logo - my favourite bit. I would have liked to build the side pods in snot, but I could not figure out a way to build the logo unless I used a ‘studs up’ design. Hope that makes sense. I can’t remember how much the pieces cost (not too expensive) but much cheaper than chrome. I bought most of them from Chrome Bricks (in Germany) on Brick Link. Thanks for the interest :D.

LOL at Lego builders comment, of course it's similar it's a McLaren. This is a definate upgrade on last years car. Love it Joe! Very nice F1 car! I like the steering imitation, but I think the diffuser would be better in upside-down position. Fortunately the McLaren didn't do stairs on the bodywork between the front wheels, so the car looks fantastic, the new rules doesn't affect on your design! Great work! :) |

Quoting Ryan Link
...All the best to you Hi Ryan great to hear from you, I hope all is well in your world too. It looks like you have been catching up on a lot of mocs today :D, Yeah I just can’t get the inspiration to start a big project, but I am slowly getting it back. I really struggle sometimes to start something big, and I find building smaller things a good way to gear up to something more challenging. All these shiny pieces are from a BL order (from last year). They have been professionally sprayed - unfortunately it does rub off so you need to look after them. Luckily I have just enough to make something this size. Many of the pieces are actually light grey but the more important pieces (on top) are metallic. Exams must take priority but I can’t wait to see your next masterclass in building. Good luck and thanks again for the kind words.

Yes! It is so shiny! Did you have to paint any parts, or did you just get a lot of metallic pieces? Either way, looks great. Thanks for the comment on my F40 by the way. I know what you mean about not having any inspiration sometimes. I've been quite busy with classes and exams the past couple of weeks, and now I'm getting a chance to catch up. I've got some ideas for what I want to build, but it will almost certainly involve some bricklink orders, so it may be a while before that one is finished. And I hope you come up with some inspiration soon, I'd love to see some kind of new big project from you! All the best to you |
