A rare occasion in which I've dabbled in the castle genre. It's such a wide field that I needed to find a niche. After some cogitation and purchasing of a bunch of microfigs, I've decided that my niche will be the microfig-scale castle genre. I've only seen limited use of the microfig in creations of this sort. This 14x14 vignette was built around a scale statue of a rider and rearing horse. Enjoy!
About this creation
I am not entirely happy with the way that the castle structure turned out. Like I said, castle is a new genre for me, and I've got to refine my skill at it a bit more.
The 21 piece statue. I was going to provide a blow-up view so that you could see the construction, but I figured it was easy enough to see how it was built.
The kingly microfig, surveying his castle wearing his chrome crown. Little does he realize that entire middle earth is in search of this crown.
I ordered ten of these guys from Bricklink. They are totally awesome, and are molded in a dull chrome. Expect to see them more in the future.
This was the most fun part of the vig to build.
Let me know what you think, and Soli Deo Gloria!
Quoting Deus Otiosus
I am not sure if it is correct, but from the reflection it appears you use no stand for the camera. The pictures are excellent, but I know not of the effort put into their production.
Indeed you are correct. Because of the intense level of lighting I use, a fast shutter speed on the camera allows me to handhold my shots. If any inconsistencies in leveling occur, I correct these in post production. However, when working with white or transparent elements, the majority of the effort goes, not into production, but into post production, where I will often do full background replacements and masking. For these shots, though, no photoshop replacements were required; just the routine cropping, level adjusting, and yes, because they are handheld, angle adjusting. Thanks for your comment!
This is great and might be just what is needed to encourage others to build in this scale. Nicely done

I was on the homepage when this caught my eye... very nice! I haven't seen any microfig-scale builds until now. With now good this one turned out, I'm surprised people don't do this more often (I guess most people aren't swimming in microfigs, but still...).
Very very original use of microfigs.....and what's more, they look great, did you buy them that way on bricklink or did you buy the microfigs the customize them? The microfigs are epic and a creation to their scale is a GREAT idea but the build could use some improvement as some parts are detailed and others are not...also,some parts look a little out of scale compared to others.....maybe if you would have made the whole thing less detailed but still keeping the main elements it would have benn a little better as the microfigs and statue already deserve a five...
Excellent staute. You are right, there aren't much microfig-scale-MOCs. I once pondered over building Hogwards in that scale. Maybe I will some day (when I've got lots and lots and lots and lots of money and space).
