Beacon Tower
This is my first time uploading something to MOCpages, so this is really more of a trial than anything else. this tower was originally intended to just be some ominous tower looming over a dark landscape, but about halfway through it, I started watching LoTR:RoTK, so it got some of its ideas straight out of Mordor. the tower ended up about half as tall as I originally had in mind, so this MOC isn't to grand. the backdrop is pretty lame, but I was trying something new. This model inspired me to start a massive undertaking of Barad Dur. I started with a general idea, but about a week ago I nixed my first attempt in favor of something closer to a minifig scale model. leave comments about what you lie, or more importantly, what you dislike about it. It will help me greatly on choosing elements for my Barad Dur

Thank you for your generous comments. As a first upload this looks very promising. I like that you made it in minifig scale, I find that it generates some of the most compelling work. Of course Barad Dur itself is so large that I've never seen it done on that scale. Your paneling technique is solid and the layering gives it a lot of texture. If you would like to increase the size of the tower, and make it look less blocky then I would recommend increasing the number of panels in the circumference as well as adding more levels to the bottom, increasing the height of the tower. There is also a technique that I have been experimenting with that uses overlapping panels so as to break up the seams on a round structure like this. Check out my Circus Maximus for an example this technique. You will probably want to use a smaller version of this method. I will get around to releasing my current project soon, which also uses this technique.

If itīs just a trial, itīs a very good one! You have some nice building techniques, and I think you should keep on building on this. I think this could be a nice middle-part of a much bigger tower, design a nice fortified tower-foot and a top and Iīm shure it will be awesome!
