The Large Mobile Platform (LMP) is a simple differential drive rover that can carry heavy payloads with mobility and ease.
About this creation

The LMP is built inside four rails that support the entire assembly. These rails can also support liftarms in the center, which allows for a combination of strength and modularity.

The LMP was originally designed to support a relatively heavy laptop as an experimental telepresence device. The ball caster is compact yet strong enough to support the vehicle.

The wheels are reinforced with Technic liftarms to reduce the burden on the axles and the servo motors.

The LMP is very modular. The rail system allows adjustments to be made quickly and efficiently.

Of course, the vehicle is not perfect. It is not very pleasing to the eye, especially with this color arrangement. This robot was made quickly to demonstrate mobile telepresence.

The NXT is mounted on the opposite side of the motors, allowing for equal weight distribution. When a payload such as a laptop is added, such as on the upper rails, the center of gravity is placed almost directly on the axles.

Placing weight on the axles necessitates reinforcements for the axles as well.
