This is the MarsCorp heliFighter Gunship, a helicopter built from the MarsCorp Helicarrier. The HeliFighter is a multi-purpose heavy combat aircraft with emphasis on ground attack. This is something you never want to see fly over if you arenít MarsCorp. If you do, start hauling a** the other way. ;)
About this creation
The wings are loaded with several types of automatic weapons. From left to right on this wing, they are: 2 Hornet unguided dual charge HI (High Impact) Rockets, 2 recoilless autocannons, 2 liquid cooled .50 cal machine guns, and on top, 2 .50 cal short barrel pepper guns, nicknamed spray-and-pray guns.
Underneath the wings are 2 hinged missile clamps. Left is a Copperhead air-to-air Tracking missile. Right is a Hammer air-to-ground fire-and-forget anti-tank missile.
On the rear of the wingtip is a Rainmaker flack rocket that fire backwards and uses sidescan proximity sensors to detect another aircraft. It then detonates, pounding the aircraft with a thick flack cloud.
The HeliFighter typically carries these nest pilot-aimed rocket pods. Each holds 4 hornet rockets and 1 Copperhead AAM. The pods aim the hornets and then fire them into a target where the first charge pierces the armor; the second is more like a shotgun blast, shredding the inside.
HeliFighters are equipped with a vert. drop bomb rack. To use this, the horizontal stabilizer must be removed and replaced by lift rotors to offset the shifted center of gravity.
Unlike their relative, the Helicarrier, HeliFighters have no lift/control rotors in the rear. Those were replaced with control surfaces and a main thrust rotor.
To protect it from boom and zoom attacks by faster planes, the top and front have increased armor; this also keeps the CoG (center of gravity) parallel to the main rotor units.
Here are 5 Subterranean Detonating Guided Bomb units, or SDGBUs. With the lift rotors (next picture) the aircraft can easily carry these 1600lb bombs. The bombs are released and they penetrate the earth, completely submerging themselves. Via timer of proximity sensor on the rear, the bombs detonate, creating 1 of 2 effects depending on the deflector panels on the unit. It can create a small earthquake and decent size crater or a vertical blast that can go through all but the heaviest of tanks.
These are the aforementioned rear lift rotors.
All the HeliFighterís loadout options in all their glory.
