A 4-wide version of the classic Porsche 914. The Porsche 914/4 is also known as "VW-Porsche", "Volkswagen-Porsche" or "Volks-Porsche".
About this creation
I have always been a fan of the Porsche 914. At the beginning of this week I saw one on the streets. I thought about building one in 4-wide and when I came home I immediately started the design with LDD. This is it, as far as I know the first 4-wide Porsche 914 on MOCpages:
Side view: I really like the look of the silhouette
The front is OK, but I haven't found a better part for the slim "fins" on the front mudguard, yet. There are always some design limits building a 4-wide car...
What I really like on this one is the rear view. It was the first part of the car I built during the design process and I just changed a detail later.
The design process in LDD. You can see that the rear end remained the same almost until the "final" version.
You can also see that I wanted to build the car in orange colour. But one main design element on the front, the 1x2x1 wedge with 2/3 cutout hasn't been produced in orange, yet. So I chose red instead.
I used new dark grey for the windows this time, as I wanted to have a contrast between the windows and the vinyl "Targa" top.
So this is my 4-wide LEGO Porsche 914. I hope you like it :-))
Update July 15, 2012: New rims for the 914 These are the "classic" Tiny Turbo wheels in chrome silver. I think they look even cooler, don't they?
So these are the new chrome wheels for the 914
Update November 17, 2012: Another set of chrome wheels. I really can't decide which ones I like most...

... I have not seen the slightly larger 'cheese slice' pieces before, where did you get them?
Those aren't really "cheese wedges" as they have an additional 1x1 plate at the bottom. You can see that on the grey ones I used for the wind screen. The parts are getting quite common, but they are still only available in few colours. In new dark grey and red you can even buy them in the "Pick-A-Brick" section at lego.com. Some of the new monster sets have the first ones in black. This is the catalog entry on BrickLink: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=92946
