The Gredasoto is a water beast, living in deep waters all over the Matoran universe.
Created by the Great Beings as an experiment, it soon proved to be deadly. The Gredasoto was created by the Great Beings in large numbers so they could see how a large species of parasite could survive in a controlled environment. These creatures grew to become too large, and later outgrew the controlled environment. The Great Beings, seeing no need for the creatures anymore, decided to let them go and become the first Rahi in the Matoran Universe.
These creatures eventually were thought to have died out, but it wasn't true.
They inhabited the darkest waters in the Matoran Universe, feeding on what little prey they could find.
These creatures could grow to massive lengths in the water, some of them growing to be the size of over 10 Ussal Cart convoys. The Toa Metru were known to have fought one of these under Roodaka's control at some point during the Visorak takeover. A few lived in the waters of Voya Nui, and in the swamps of Karda Nui. A select few lived on Mata Nui, being under the control of Makuta Teridax.
At one point in his life, Galvis (the only true male Ga-Matoran), was said to have fought one of these off the shores of Metru Nui. Galvis had to stay underwater for 5 days, but he finally had slain the beast.
Orgins: Great Being Created, Makuta controlled
Personality: Agressive, very territorial
Food: Mostly eels and small fish, although the occasional matoran works just fine
Species Population: Unknown, 40-50 believed to still be alive
Other Info: These creatures do not have eyes, but have a greatly increased sense of movement. They can feel disturbances in electromagnetic fields around them to hunt and catch their prey
TO THE MOC!
Overview of the Gredasoto. Here you can see it's 4 large tentacles and pincer claws.
Back/right side view.
Back/left side view.
Top view, here you can see how massive the build is. It almost maxes out the dimensions on everything (excpet for height).
Detail on the Gredasoto's back.
Bottom of the Gredasoto.
The chest is made from 2 masks. This area is known as the larval sack, this is where a female Gredasoto has her eggs. If it was a wild Grenasoto, it would be filled with small blue eggs. Since some of these creatures are controlled by Makuta, the reproductive system is tampered with and a Krana is installed in place of the reproductive system.
The Krana that has been placed in the female Grenasoto's larval sack/reproductive system.
Close-up on the tail.
Another picture of the head and pincer claws.
Breakdown of the head. For this head to work, I built a system of System (stop laughing...) to hold the head together.
Now for a few measurement shots. This shows the end of the measurement, maxing out at 35 centimeters.
This shot shows where the tape measure is being held.
And just so you guys don't think I rigged the measurement photos, here is a pic of the whole build being measured. The tape was not moved in any of those pics.
Here the female Gredasoto rips apart it's prey, which fortunately for us is a Rainbow Toa.
Size comparison with Galvis, he did get a few minor upgrades.
I love this picture.
Whew, glad this thing is finally posted. I have been working on it for the past week, and I got a lot of help from builders on Flickr. I knew my chances about passing the next round where slim since I was against Gringat, but I was going to give it a shot.
I'd like to thank a number of builders for help, but I'd especially want to thank Steve the Squid for his part in this. Since he was my last round opponent in the Bio-Cup, Steve felt happy he wasn't against Gringat. Steve kindly offered me some parts to help try and beat Gringat. He sent me some white horns to finish off my teeth on the Gredasoto's mouth.
Thanks for the Popular This Week guys!
Also, I was greatly inspired by Isaiah S' parasite .
Comments and C&C is appreciated, judges, you may judge now. :3
Awesome, just AWESOME work (tyvm for re-enabling Comments btw). I think it's one of Lord Oblivion's MOCs that I first saw the combo of inverted-tire-to-fangmaw for that fearsome grin of Gredato's =), but this is the first time I've seen the double (articulated) incisors used. Even from a distance, the Creep-Factor's high on this thing - looks like something I'd go waaay outta my way to crunch decisively under heavy boots. And that's a compliment. If you take the concept AWAY from Scale, and miniaturize it mentally a moment; can you imagine this thing as an internal parasite? ICK. Struck me at first glance - kinda like a reverse-Tapeworm. Gloriously revolting! And BACK into a Scale conversation: I like every detail of the design as-is; from the thickened tail segmentation using those tires, the hook there, the scissorlike arms. Menacing all-over. CHEERS, Kyle - fantastic work!!!
I'm rooting for you...and I'm a huge fan of your opponent. Honestly, this creeped me out because it looks liek it could actually exist, and it;'s soo well made and horifying. It is a bit cliche, but it looks great and it really is creepy :D
Awesome. Great use of tires and greta look, vermin things are always disgusting, specially when they have such big teeth. I believe thsi si the closest match on the contets so far, i woul really pass you oth to the next round if I could. But I have to choose, so I go for you. I think yours is a little more horryfing, so yeah.
This is a close call but Im voting for you because of your imaginative use of parts to make a "tremor" like rahi which is not your usual legged rahi. A gigantic parasitic worm for me also looks more terrifying. Transformers and Avengers movie figured this out!
Excellent work! I would have placed those tentacles in a more natural-looking position (like behind it to emulate a squid), or shortened them up a bit. Still, the body is excellent, and I love that evil mouth full of teeth!
Since I followed it's development on flickr, I was maybe one of the persons who were really excited how the final version will look! So, like I said before, fantastic work on the body design! The mouth was already done similar, but you added so many, many teeth which made this look amazing! The pincers are also much better now! Good luck in the contest :)
There are a lot of unsettling similarities between this and Senkhrast, but that can only mean we're doin' it right! This is one of your most impressive builds ever, and that tyre technique is just brilliant. -IF- you manage to beat me, I'm not gonna be sore about it. After a MOC like this you deserve to get to R3.
So. Amazingly. Cool. I love creatures like this, the head looks amazing! But why is it different in the last few pictures? 'Cuz I personally think the second one looks better. Also, did you know that you can turn the larger tires on it's tail inside-out to get a smoother effect?
The finished build is fantastic Kyle! You should be really proud of this moc. And who knows, this is good, you just might get to round3...Good luck in the contest, you really deserve a place in round3 =)
