These are Orbital Deployment Pods, used to move cargo quickly to and from the planet's surface. They are used mostly to provide supplies, ammo, and other basic, frequently delivered items.
About this creation
This here is a standard Orbital Delivery Pod (ODP). It is a 4x4 cylinder with a main engine and positioning jets at the rear, and heat shielding at the front.
The unit hinges open as seen below and can carry a wide array of cargo items or an explosive core for use as a guided weapon.
Here you can see the engine nacelle and jet ports. I have yet to install the parachute canister that fits in the center of the nacelle.
This version is larger for larger cargo.

This is a lift rocket, for sending the pod into space; the pod can then fly interplanetary with a fuel tank booster or be returned to an orbiting cruiser.

This is the beginnings of an unfinished launch tower.
The top of the rocket can be replaced with this one holding a small pod.
This is another variant of the small pod with a bracket for side-mounting.

This pod is carried on the VTS Eagle cargo ship, seen here in orbital flight.
THis ship carries the pods from the surface to orbit and back, it can deploy the pods from orbit and they will guide themselves to the landing zone.
The pods are carried on two racks underneath the ship and are mounted either as a single, or in pairs, seen here.
The pairs are held together with a heat shielding extender and a lock pin and can easily break apart for seperate release.

The ship has 4 pairs of engines that provide vertical thrust. These engines rotate to provide forward, backward, and spinning momentum. the engines can also be varied to point the nose up or down, or fly sideways.
There is a single engine in the rear to propel the ship forward without the use of the rotary engine blocks.
This is the cockpit, complete with large headlights to light up the landing zone.
