About this creation

The House of Hobbit Bilbo
Since the pictures hit the internet I’ve been working on building this model for myself.
I’m still looking for parts that match the colors of the preliminary LEGO set, and as you can see, I’ve come up with a red/tan solution, mostly because these colors I did have abundantly.
Since I have only a few Dwarfs at my disposition, I made them as inhabitants of the building.
Soon I discovered that there are a lot of new elements used in this new set.
For instance: Slope 75 2 x 1 x 3, (4460 a or b) Green
Plate, Round Corner 6 x 6, (6003) Green
Vehicle, Mudguard 1 1/2 x 6 x 1 with Arch (62361), Reddish Brown
Brick, Round Corner 4 x 4 Macaroni Wide with 3 Studs (48092), Medium Dark Flesh
Tile 1 x 2 with Groove, Medium Dark Flesh.
The green round plate (8x8) used as door will probably have a print, or a sticker, as do have a few of the tiles used in the fence and the garden-bench.
But most interesting of all: there is at least one complete new element:
Plate, Round, 4 x 4, with a hole 2 x 2, Medium Dark Flesh.
These are used for the smaller windows beside the entrance and for the windows on the sides of the green hill.
Until now these round elements could only be made with the use of the macaroni bricks (85080).
They do have the same shape if you build four together in a circle, but they need a few pieces to connect them properly.
So, that’s where I started from, and there I had to solve the puzzle with these existing bricks.
I like the result, although the official set will be neater, because of the thinner walls…
Another challenge was the bigger window, build with 4 pieces of Black Turntable 2 x 2 Plate, Base.
In the new set they are attached to each other most likely using another new piece: a Trans-Clear Plate, Round 4 x 4 with Hole.
I’ve come up with another solution in connection the four turntables, making this window into one of my favorite stained glass pieces.
And finally, I notices that the roof should be removable: in this way you can easily reach into the building, and you get an additional playground for your mini-figs.
Please let me know, what you think!

Great job of recreating it from the images! I cant wait to buy the real one :)
Thanks! It was/is fun: mostly because I like the challenge of detecting the building principles of this set.
And: oh yes, I can't wait either :) |
