I haven't posted any builds for a while. I have been planning, building, destroying, rebuilding, making (way too many) bricklink orders and being generally slow with creating my first SHIP.
About this creation
I have always been a fan of the old Space Police I. The colour scheme was so cool and the ship designs equally sweet. Just a shame it was such a limited line.
Here are a few photos of my progress. It is roughly 110-ish studs long on just the frame. I haven't yet mounted the bridge or a hull just yet. Getting there (slowly) though.
I will most likely remodel the top half of the bridge. I tried to get those angles working, and failed. From a distance it looks reasonably ok, but once the lights are on you see all the gaps.
The basic frame. Nekkid SHIP!!! oooooohhh ahhhhhh!
The bridge.... being dark and, bridge-like.
OMG lights!!! The angles I was going for in the windows didn't really work. I will be redoing them, and the roof of the bridge. I plan to have the roof of the bridge and the main hull be easily removable inorder to view the inside.
The bridge interior separated from the exterior. I have since tiled the floor. The front section contains two consoles with swivelling chairs. The captain's chair swivels also. I have since added extra space on the extra level on each side, with computer screens mounted on the walls, and a handrail so the officers don't fall into the dreaded pit of LEDs! *gasp*
Another framey shot, this time showing the semi-completed engines. Still no interior and the wings are still framey! So much frame-age! Try to ignore all the clutter on the floor.
More pics will be added on my flickr page as I go:
provided I can pull it off!
It's by far the biggest build I have ever attempted. To give an idea of the size, the SP Logo I made (main image of this page) fits in the wing, with loads of room to spare.
I have to get it finished for a show in just over a month, so there will be more WIP pics coming up, with the final thing soon after. Fingers crossed!
