Squad 551 is a 2000 Chevy Silverado that was acquired by Cheyenne Valley FPD after serving another department. The department, unable to afford a large rescue truck, cut costs by converting this truck into a light rescue with all work being done by department members. It has compartments on both sides of the bed containing Amkus extrication equipment (Spreaders, Cutters, and rams), air bags, gas meters, 4 spare SCBA bottles, and BLS Medical equipment. A slide-out tray contains a generator, cribbing, and hydraulic hoses for the extrication equipment. New scene lights and LED warning lights were added including a large arrow stick on the rear for optimum visibility at crash scenes. Chevrons are likely to be added on the rear of the truck. Tow hooks and an Electronic Q siren are located on the front bumper, and a trailer hitch located on the new rear bumper.
