This is a MOC off between me and my good friend David. We decided to make our category Lord of The Rings Halloween. I made a bit of an awkward meeting for mine.

Overall, Nice work!
Total score: 14
Creativity: 7/10. I like the two groups! I also like all of the grass pieces!
Brick building and techniques: 3/5.
For this, the hobbit hole house could have been more curved, instead of it being almost perpendicular to the grass. Also the path leading to the door, it also is a little too straight. Things sticking out from the grass, a bush or something, or even some pebbles would make it look a lot better.
Visual elements, brick colors, and photography skills: 3/4.
I like all of the greenery. For the door though, you have half green and half gray. If you needed the gray for the arch, then for the bottom half of the door, also use gray. The top half of the door really jumps from the picture. Photography great, really nice to see everything. Again, the path to the door could have more colors. Great roof on the hobbit hole!
Creation on topic: 1/1
I did not read any of the other comments before I judged to make it fair. |

Very nice Mark! I think the hill could be a little more sloped, and the costumes weren't the most creative. Now, it's been bugging me, does this have an interior? I've just been wondering. :) and that scarecrow is just *lovely*. (I really is a very good scarecrow, but put that face on anything and it will be uglier than roadkill) Good luck Mark!
No it does not have an interior, or at least it ha some of one, it has an interior because I started to make one for it and finished the basics but it does not have any small details like chairs or figures. |

Creative and thoughtful MOC. Gim-Gollum is my favorite. |

8/10 for Creativity; I like the idea, but I wish that you had dressed them up as something that isn't LOTR related, such as Harry Potter characters, to make it more obvious that they are in costume. I would also have preferred a bit bigger this time so that you can make there be more going on. Bricks/building techniques: 2.5/5. Nothing stood out as especially creative. The door was good, but I wish it opened, to add more detail and complexity. The scarecrow almost just looks like a normal person, and the landscaping could be better. Photos/Brick colors: 3.5/4. Nice photos, and just the right amount. Some of the colors seem a bit scattered though, mainly the dark green. 1/1 for being on topic; total of 15/20. Nicely done, you are definately improving! |

Creativity: 7/10; I have to admit, this was confusing to follow, but I think I can understand the story. I can reason with why you thought the idea of dressing the characters, but I have to agree with Halhi on that. Bricks/Building Techniques: 3/5; I know that trick with the landcaping before, I've done it. It really just makes it unnatural. There could've been an interor to make the characters go get candy from the bowl inside, or something lol. The building looked plain. But the scene had generic techniques all in all. Visual elements, brick colors and photography skills: 3/4; Yay, you took my advice for a white background (I think). The first photo is eerie and dark, like a normal Halloween, so I'm glad you got that right. The build had the right colors to it, and I like the dark green, unlike Halhi. On topic: 1/1 definitely. Total: 14 |
