Itís hard to believe that all of this Lego is just 98 parts! A classic CS spaceship, redolent of LL918, plus a rover that could be a fuelling truck for the ship, all topped off with a command post. I think that for this contest, it would have been good to have had designs that were further away from the original CS shapes. 7 The alternative build looks great fun to play with and has echoes of the 6870 Space Probe Launcher. Itís difficult to use those big chunks of blue for things other than they were designed for but the different shaped base, with its parasol antenna looks nice. For this competition, there should have been a second alternative build too. 4 Lots of play options in this MOC. A ship to explore the galaxy in, which has an opening cockpit. A hinged buggy to explore the planet on and a base to control the action. Everything looks solid and fun to use. 9 This MOC is a great tribute Classic Space but I feel that reflects rather than pushes the looks of the original sets. 5 Total score 25
Design: This is CS building with great economy. You squeeze all the key parts of the genre, a rover, a base with dish and a spaceship into one set (amazing). That said, what you get in numbers you loose in innovation of build, these all feel in some sense to be derivatives of real sets. Still I canít take much away from the design.
Piece Selection: The piece selection is really clever, with the use of big bespoke parts which allow builds which seem beyond the pocket money range, all very well executed.
Playability: You almost get a full classic CS range for you pocket money; so
many adventures in this set waiting to happen. One mark off though for no truly inventive function.
CS Factor: The essence of 79 in 100 pieces.
Wow, this contest is getting tougher and tougher! A great entry, I couldn't believe that it has les than 100 parts, but you've proved me wrong! All three of the models are great and the alternatives are very cool, too. Great job! :-))
this is my favorite of all that s been done, the 'sport' viper is great, and those big panels, with a big screen, yellow glass piece, are 2 of my best lego parts ever, unfortunately, they re rare, wish they could at least re-hash the yellow window combo, it s awesome, as classic your piece is hard to beat, it s nice you displayey the parts needed, as I have enough for that great sport vic, and that makes it easy for me, the mobile launcher is a super cool addition, I d really like to see someone invest in a classic piece in this genre, I mean big! as I really dig it! bravo!
