Filming for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is going strong at Bag End.
About this creation
Link to the Middle Earth Lego Olympics.
For the first round, I decided to create something originally thought up for another contest: Bag End, movie-style. It was really a mad rush to get this finished, and this write-up will no doubt be pretty quiet. But I'll try and make my presence known once in awhile.

Peter Jackson, director, talking to Martin Freeman, who plays Bilbo Baggins. Notes: he doesn't have short legs because he is actually 5 feet, six inches tall, and that's a pipe he's holding, not a flintlock pistol (that Middle-Earth technology is really coming along).

A camerawomen zooms in on Gandalf, played by Ian McKellen, approaching Bag End.

A painter puts the finishing touches on Bag End's doorway.

Bilbo's bench, and a small trolley with supplies.

Side view, showing the angles (admittedly not very well).

The very un-attractive interior. This is actually realistic: the outside sections of the movie are filmed in New Zealand, while the interior scenes (or at least some of them) are filmed in the studio.
Well, that's all I have for you tonight. A huge thank you to the judges and everybody for putting this together, and a great big good luck to all the other contestants. See you on the next build!
Soli Deo Gloria,
A M

A really great scene and the details are terrific. Actually, I like the interior. You were telling it like it was. |

I really like the round entry door frame, it s my best reason to want the official kit, if it comes in special, I ll grab it for sure, nicely done!
I agree, from what I've seen and heard, that set appears to be worth every penny it costs. Seeing as I was lacking in that piece, I had to improvise a bit ;) |

Actually I think bag end is full scale on in NZ. But there are some shots in the studio i believe. Great work, nice twist! Good luck. :)
You may be right, I'm not too knowledgable in this subject ;) I just watched a production video and noticed some interior shots (namely the dining table) were in the studio, hence the commentary :) Thanks very much for the comment! |
