This is the first realistic castle that I have built.
About this creation
After sorting all of my LEGO pieces by part over winter break, I spent the last part of break building this. This was relatively challenging for me because I had never built something like it before. The whole thing is built on a 48x48 stud baseplate and the castle is built on a 36x36 baseplate connected to the top of the rocks. It was trick to securely attach the baseplate to the top of the rocks, but I achieved it. All in all, I really like the way this turned out. Enjoy!
The Lord of the Castle on his horse.
The outside of the second floor of the castle
Small rocks for the catapult
Large rocks for the catapult
Spare bow for defending the castle
Device used to drop rocks on invaders trying to open the castle doors
The catapult is on a turn table so it can rotate.
The top of the castle
The catapult is on a turns table so it can be aimed at attackers easily
Rocks for the catapult
A knight on top of the tower
The ladder to go down the cliff folded up
Here you can see the hinge pieces I used to allow the ladder to fold and unfold
The castle doors
Inside the tower
The 3rd floor of the castle
Lord and Lady's bed
Gold and jewels belonging to the Lord and Lady of the castle
Quite good for your first castle. Some suggestions: You should put a few support columns in the ground floor to support the baseplate so it doesn't bend. Also, try to avoid flat vertical faces in the rockwork, use angles as much as you can. This will make it more realistic.
you re 1rst? really? the presentation is one of the most complete I have seen to date, the castle s greenery and moat is great, the castle in and out is seriously designed, it seems you thought of everything! I appreciate best perhaps the multiple animals presence all troughout this nice piece, I putted enphasis a lot since my last post to you on your animals, I got goats and pigs now, check my posts from latest months, there is always animals on my posts now, I love them, as I like this piece a lot too, bravo!
Fantastic work! Your work with the baseplates is top-knotch, I didn't even notice! Excellent details throughout, awesome landscaping (your rockwork is excellent!) and I love the unfolding ladder! Stellar!
Nice work! I like the overall feel for the castle and the playability that you incorporated. I think to get rid of the look of the green plate resting on the rocks, I would bring the rocks out a little bit for a wider base and then build a little layer around the green plate so it's not so obvious. Also I would either fill in the brown around the stream with more 1x1 rounds for rocks or eliminate it all together to keep a more aesthetic feel. Anyway I hope this kind of helps and keep building! - J.
