Legend of Chima Speedor performance upgrade
About this creation
This is an upgrade to a standard Legend of Chima Speedor frame to make it faster and more stable. The main photo is of XS-1, the Experimental Speedor 1 prototype frame - which is made of more accessible standard Lego parts than XS-2, the Experimental Speedor 2 prototype (which uses more difficult to obtain Technic Lego parts).

To reduce its rolling resistances and make the Speedor faster - the outboard rigger (e.g. Equila has two propellor outrigger) which is used for stablization is removed and replaced with a standard 2 wheel axle. To give the Speedor stablity the 2 wheel axle is attached using a long Technic plate which alters its center of gravity and acts functionally much like the original Legend of Chima outboard rigger that was removed.

The XS-1 Frame which uses a standard Lego two wheel axle assembly is slightly too wide to fit a Hot Wheels track.

Only the Speedor flywheel assembly is used from the original Legends of Chima Equila set (Lego 70101) . Below are the parts:

Below is my Technic Lego Prototype version, the XS-2 Frame, which has a 2 wheel axle frame that DOES fit into a Hot Wheels track (which makes a better jumping ramp than any Lego ramp that I could make). In addition, the narrower Technic Lego tire/wheels of the XS-2 also has lower rolling resistance than the non-Technic standard Lego tire/wheel assembly of the XS-1.

Below are the parts:

In the original design of - the Legend of Chima Speedor outboard rigger acts as part of a large spearhead which makes colliding into the target easier (the Speedor is basically one big rolling missile) so losing the outboard rigger reduces the frontal profile of spearhead and thus makes it harder for the Speedor to hit a target. However, this modification to the Speedor should give it a much faster initial velocity and thus it should go twice the distance or more than a regular Speedor given the same terrain type.

In Experimental Speedor 3 and 4 (XS-3, XS-4) stabilizing fins are added. XS-3 test large fins. XS-4 test if smaller fins might be better. Below are photos.
