About this creation
Here's a minifigure scale Power Functions Pedestal Crane with working boom, winch, lights, rotating base, and lots of detail.

Tried to put as much realistic detail as I can.

Large vent is there to cool the electric motors, if it was a real crane :)

Boom can really pick up loads at its farthest point.

Used black fishing string. Braided polyethylene I think it is? Rated up to 100LBS, which is overkill for this model.

Can pick up really heavy loads at this angle.

This is one of my tallest creations, unless you count those times you put a bunch of bricks together to reach the ceiling :P

detail. You can see the grey grated floor.

Batt box cover

Makes a great counter weight.

Nice red color with white stripes

PF lights. not all that bright, but I had the room for them.

Strong :)

Can pick up what evert his container of bricks is. But dont move the boom out, like I did in the video.

Tools for quick repairs and adjustments. Also winch motor.

Gotta have a beacon :)

Wheel keeps the winch rope in constant tension.

Disassembly of the crane.

I really made this crane strong. There are technic beams that run from the top to halfway down the pedestal base.

Even the crane itself is really strong.

You can see the motor that rotates the crane.

Crane sits on this base, supported by technic beams that ran along the sides.

Hollow load

more detail of the base structure. It wasn't a big pile of bricks.

WIP pictures when building it.

I originally had the boom to be off center, but that would put an uneven load on the base, so decided to center it.

Couldnt wait to see what it looked like with a boom :)

Getting there.

0.55 mm thick black braided polyethylene fishing string. bought it on ebay for $12
100 meters I think, so I'll have lots of string for any creation.

Thanks for looking, please see my youtube video. rate and comment :)
